95/96 Vs. 97 SE

I raced a 95/96 GXE Maxima up a freeway on-ramp and he stayed on my tail until I megrd onto the freeway. How come I couldn't shake him off? I think that he was an auto, I didnt hear an intake, or see an exhaust.

Then as I was driving home a V6 mustang, pulls aside and wants to play. I just left that mustang in the dust!! I thougt that V6 mustangs were faster but apparently not.

Maybe he wasn't an Auto. Even stock, a 5speed can keep up with what you've got. Consider a Y-pipe!

I'm definately getting one for sure pretty soon. I think that the other Maxima may have been a 5spd as well. But I couldn't tell.

a 95 maxima is just as fast as a 97 max..actually it's a little faster...

the 95 was the first in their generation and the 97 has limits that the 95 doesn't due to some environmental issues and what not...it's been discussed numerous times on this board...that's like racing your twin brother dude...you guys are exactly the same....but 95 is supposed to be a little faster...maybe by 5 hp or less?

From what I can tell he had no exhaust, or intake. The only thing that I did hear b4 we raced that he had mad sounds comming from the trunk. But you maybe right.

Yes '95's are faster but it wouldn't make a difference in the real world..it's not the fact he had a '95/96..he probubly gunned it a second before you, or maybe he was a better driver.

It's not the car...it's you.

no offense, but do you think your intake and exhaust will make a HUGE difference in how fast you are? If anything, both of those mods will decrease your low end power, while slightly increasing top end, but if both cars are 5 speed, its gonna be a driver's race

I noticed that when I raced with my brothers Auto Maxima, I pulled from him pretty quickly. And we both have the same mods. So im think that this Maxima that I raced must have been a 5spd.

yeah exactly, 5 spd vs auto = pulling away

unless the driver can't drive stick at all

Even from a rolling start? I thought it was pretty much dead even from a rolling start ie 50+ mph. The advantage with the 5 speed being launch control and different gearing.
