Budget Y-pipe

Budget Y-pipe
Anybody have any experiences with a Budget Y-Pipe?

Quality? HP gain? stuff like that?
Is it the same as the other brands?
I want one for my 96 i30 it should fit right?

I had mine installed about a month ago by Budget took about 45 mins and fits perfect. I have no bees in the can noise and my 1/4 mile can attest to the HP gain. They are T-304 Stainless and good quality. Best part is they are only $170 US shipped or installed. They are great folks to deal with and they also installed a 2 1/2" Mandrel Bent T-304 SS B-Pipe and Hi-Flo Cat at the same time. Check this thread.
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=113611

Here is a picture I took in the shop.

I am not 100% on the i30 vs Max but I am pretty sure they are the same.
Good Luck

I have one on a 97. There is no bees in the can sound and I can feel the extra power. It also gave the car a very nice tone, especially at WOT in the upper rpm range. Fitment was also no problem, the guy who I had install it even commented that it fit better than those $300 pipes. For $168 shipped, you can't beat it.

i wanted to get a y pipe soon...but money is tight....i was gonna go with the warspeed one, but now i hear such great things about the budget one (well i dont hear anything bad ) ....well what i wanted to know is (without having to search around) is if itll help my 1/4 mile (not just high end), and also how much installation would cost approximately, and if i need to change anything else exhaust wise to get a good hp gain...(i currently just have a hybrid intake)...kthx

Smog in MA is only every 2 years when the car goes on a dyno for a "driving" test. I don't have to do that again until next year.

I have budget on my 98 auto.

It doesnt have any vibrations at idle.. I was afraid of it shaking the car at idle, because i used to have a stillen y and thats what it did, but the budget one is good... No vibes at all.

Yes there is low end gain and I improved about 3/10 in the quarter and once you hit 3k or above it really comes alive. However, I gained another 3/10 with my PR CAI I just installed. I knocked exactly 1 second off my 1/4 with the exhaust and intake. I also replaced the cat with a Hi-Flo and eliminated the resonator and have a 2 1/2 mandrel bent B-Pipe all from Budget. So when I say 1 second in the 1/4 it is with the complete exhaust and intake not just the Y-Pipe. The Y-Pipe only was 3/10 as stated above.

are you guys serious? yo i am seriously about to buy a y-pipe in the next week and i was ready to buy warsp SS y-pipe for 210 off of a friend who had it for 10 months and it retails for 300 + shipping...it's supposed to last like 20 years...if budget is this good i may save 50 bucks and get it but there has to be a catch...how long are they supposed to last and is the horsepower exactly the same? i'm glad to hear there is no buzz sound or problems while driving or in idle but for such a price difference there has to be something different besides the manufacturer...anyone have budget number or website where i can do more research on their pipe's?

Yeah, i'm curious also what the difference really is between WSP and budget.... i mean if they were the same pipe, just different manufactuers, WSP would not have any buisness.

WSP makes 4 or 5 different configurations of pipes, Budget makes one.
The Budget Pipe http://www.budgetexhaust.com/ is a T-304 Stainless Steel Non-Mandrel Bent with a T-304 unlined flex. I did post some pictures so you can see that even though it is non mandrel bent the bends are long and affected very little by being non-mandrel bent.

WSP http://www.warpspeedperformance.com/nissan.htm makes a non-mandrel bent and a mandrel bent. They make one made of aluminized steel and one from T-304, they make one with TIG welds and one with MIG welds. Lots of choices.

However, WSP's cheapest pipe is a non-mandrel bent aluminized steel pipe. It costs $195. Their best pipe is $300.
Budgets only pipe on the other hand costs $170 delivered or installed.
I won't knock WSP's products because I believe they are good from what everyone says. However I do have some experience with Budget and their stuff is good as well and I believe for the price there is no comparison.

Your choice. One other thing Budget DOES NOT CRITICIZE WSP. Check out WSP's site, then make your decision.
Jim

PS I also just ran an 13.8 on Sat with my Budget Y-pipe, in an automatic.

I am not sponsored or paid or related to anyone at Budget I just happen to believe in their product.

How much extra to have them install it? I live in upstate NY, and might consider driving to Burlington to have them install it if it's not too much extra?

so the mandrel bent is better...how so? and i'm getting used warspeed STAINLESS STEAL that is supposed to be like 300 retail...is that one mandrel bent? is the only warspeed NOT mandrel bent the ehhh, budget type one for like 195? i remember the cheapest warspeed was 225...prices must have went down....

but i rather get the stainless steal for 210 since it might be mandrel bent hopefully? if not then i should get the budget.....plus i'm getting it for 210 instead of 300...u can't beat that

yea man. i checked their site and they rip up budget so badly. what's up with that? anyway, can you ask jeff to hook me up with a custom exhaust? i think he's more responsive to someone in person rather than me heckling him on the phone. for those of you who don't know, the exhaust is on hold for now because they're too busy to complete the R and D jime how much are you spraying for that 13.8?

Jeff will do a b-pipe (intermediate pipe) for you and will eliminate the small S pipe behind the cat and the resonator if you want. The only thing missing is the muffler from the cat-back. On second thought I would keep the resonator because of the noise but I am getting my 2k1 muffler this week so will see how it is. If it is still too loud I will get Jeff to put in a resonator for me.
Hey I live almost an hour from there so I don't see them in person unless I am there getting work done and thats been twice now, once for the y-pipe and again for the b-pipe etc.
I was running 100 shot for the 13.8 but did get a 14.02 on a 70 shot.

With your Ypipe, hi-flo catt, elimated resonator and going to a 2 1/2 B-pipe..... Is your car loud? Reason I ask is because I just got my exhaust installed not to long ago.. I barely hear it at all. I just ordered a budget Ypipe also. I was thinking about Hi-flo catt and all the goodies you have. But kinda worried about how much noise this is going to make.

Its noisy keep the resonator. Don't get me wrong I love the sound at idle its great. But it sounds a little Hondaish for a real small portion of the rpm range around 3k. On the highway its ok unless you go up a hill etc then it drones. It also drones at lower speeds like 50-60 mph. Once you hit over 60 it goes away. I am hoping the 2k1 muffler will help but I still think I will have to get a resonator. It is still half the noise of my Son's GTI VR6 with a catback but he likes noise, I like quiet. I would like to have a straight through muffler to put on at the track, could be changed in 5-10 mins only 2 bolts.

ok, when you say drone at around 3k rpms is it "ear buzzing?" or no..i know it's difficult to determine the loudness by someone's else's opinion. what may seem loud to someone might sound perfect to me. i just want to know if it's going to make long trips absolutely unbareable. i called jeff last week and i guess he was so busy. he didn't give me a positive OK that he can send me a bpipe, but in the future possibly.

i think you are shy all six beers man. do you read? budget and wsp are two totally different companies. Budget has its own y-pipe which is 170 shipped and wsp sells its own y-pipe which is 195 plus shipping. two totaly different entitites.

I still dont understand why the Warpspeed SS Y is more than $100 more than Budget's, because its TIG welded? or what? I'm looking for a pipe that can withstand New England weather, have the best gains, and have no "bees in a can" sounds associated with it.

Why doesn't budget sell theirs at a higher price, since it is so much cheeper than its compitition?
