95 SE vs late model Toyota Spyder

I'm 90% sure it was a Toyota Spyder.. in any case, it looked like a Porche but it wasn't, so it's all an assumption. I was going up a fairly straight stretch of road and this guy pulls up near me. I wanted to race, but I figured he wasn't in the mood, so I didn't punch it right away. As soon as the light turned green I went and so did he. I was going pretty fast, maybe reached 60 or so, with him on my tail. I changed lanes and he blew right by me, so I had to catch up. It was night with no traffic, so we met up at the next set of lights. When it turned green, I floored it and so did he. He was a full car length behind me the whole time up until 80, when I decided it would be a bad idea to double the speed limit. Just to make sure he actually WAS racing me, we did the exact same thing at the next set of lights. Was this guy just keeping me entertained, or is that car really so slow?

If it is a Spyder, looks like a miata or something, they only have 140 hp, but are light as anything. Best 0-60 is 6.6. If you are a 5-speed, your best 0-60? Riiiiiiight, 6.6. So it should be a close race no matter what.

Yup, that's the one. Funny, I could have sworn those things were faster. I do have a 5spd, so I guess that explains why I kept ahead and stuff. The guy probably didn't know how to race, anyway. I let out a slight chirp as I went, the other guy spun for a bit. The look on his face as his $25k car got beaten by a Maxima must have been priceless.

This MR2 is fugly, I like the older one. There are some running around with s/c and t/c in So Cal.

Suffice to say, I'll still lay the smackdown when my turbo project gets done.

My friend has a MR2. They are 4 cylinder and 132 hp. But they are small and light weight. We raced to...I won.
