Question..

Hello,

I'm looking into getting a 4th gen 5spd Maxima..
I've been reading this forum and also maxima.org to dig up more info on the car.

I have a few questions:

1. I was also looking at a 02 Sentra Spec-V, however after reading all these problems with the paintjob i am deciding against it. Does the 4th Gen Maxima have this problem???

2. What are some known issues/bugs that I should look for when buying the car?

3. Any major problems that I should know about and make sure are FIXED when buying ?

4. Reliability wise the car seems very good, at least when i did a search of the archives.. no major problems. This is true or false?

Thanks for any help!

My 2cents

1. I like the Spec-V, but over a 4th gen? maybe not, u will get more performance out of a 4th gen 5spd then a Spec-V, i hear the black paint from 95-96 wasnt the best, but thats all i know and i could be wrong.

2. Look for the same thing when buying all cars, check out the transmission, tires, ask about history and stuff, if ur maxima that u look at has a bose system in it, make sure it is workin ok, some people have probs with them. I cant think of any known problem for maximas in general

Look at Mileage posts, yes they r reliable, I have 95k miles and it ir running like brand new. A very good and sound investment, good luck. I would recommend a 95-96 SE 5spd, i personally like them better and some seem to think they r faster then 97+
