My cai is louder from outside of the car because the filter is outside. when I had hybrid, it seems louder from sitting inside the car. CAI has more of a deeper tone

hey KSU1998, did u have to move the battery to fit the WSP hybrid? I noticed that the ebay and frankencar hybrid is stright, while the WSP has a bend on the upper section. How big is the filter that comes with the WSP? I am looking into a hybrid intake myself, and any info will be great.

Yeah, but you don't get the velocity stack or venturi if you go the ebay route.

I went from CAI to Hybrid. CAI sounded much better. Deep cool growl sound. The Hybrid has a more cam sound to it, like you're feeling the 24 valve head Also, the CAI, when it was quiet, was dead quiet. Cruising at 80 mph, you heard nuthin. The Hybrid, you hear a little bit.

To JsL...

It is a tight azz fit, the K&N is almost against the fender, but it does work, If you havent ordered your WSP CAI yet...tell them you just want the hybrid set-up, it's cheaper and I think Dallas told me if I need a shorter bypass he would trade me...so the hybrid setup would have a shorter piece..more like the PR set up.

Thanks for the info... I would rather have a soild metal vs. plastic ebay stuff, I did that crap on my accord...no more of that

cant beat $155 for a CAI...unless you buy pipe on Ebay and bend it yourself...J/K

later,

Dale

What i really want to do is just get a velocity stack and a BIG KN filter and make the upper section myself just like a guy did on the ORG. The problem is that i don't know where to buy just a velocity stack for a decent price, where to get the rubber sections for connections and don't know what size filter to use. I was second thinking about WSP because I was worried about a not "plug and play" kit, I thought I had to move the battery or fabricate somthing, but thank you KSU1998 for your info. JsL

Wouldnt a stillen hybrid be better than a wsp cold air intake?

The stillen only comes with a filter and velocity stack and it costs 200. The WSP comes with piping, filter and a cheaper MAF adaptor for 155. I would love to have a stillen hybrid, but that would cost 355 and for a poor 18 year old college student, thats a lot of money. I was hoping i can get a velocity stack for cheap and buy a big KN filter and ghetto-ly remove the accordian section and resonator.

I bought the stillen intake for $100 shipped. I was thinking about getting the upper tube for warpspeed and converting it to hybrid but im not sure if the gains are worthwhile.

Guys I will get the dig camera out this weekend...I am one of the first WSP Hybrid setups...so a picture is worth 1K words..I may have the ramair and heat sheild done as well...I am going to build the ram/shield to high quaility, possibly sell them on the org. If I do it I do it right...my old accord was the last of my halfass intake deals...save up, the k&N getto intake is for civics, I too am in grad school so I feel your money pain. BTW WSP is allowing us to order the hybrid only setup(i believe) can you say under $155, jump on it..!

off topic....I just got back from the grude night(track) I saw a corrola with a additional trunk lid, I mean wing..heres the good stuff, he had drag wheels on...later he took them off, alot of work when you are running 19.7 and a 20.1 all night LOL

take care,

Dale

Mr blank..

I may help you...this weekend I am going to try all the options from PoP only...hybrid w/ and w/o the accordian bypass..I think the best setup is the K&N with the bypass(thats the setup I have seen on Maxs running 14.6's)...the air is smoothed out, they sell this setup for LT1 vette(ect) and all that so it is proven...however worth the money or not>?>?>?

<research, think, learn, try, complete, then tell others>

You can get a used Stillen or JWT for $100, then do what this guy did for $15;

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ICS+AND+intake

With all that done, you've spent $115 and you got POP filter, venturi (or velocity stack), and you've removed the resonator between the MAF and TB.

$115 Hybrid

Hey, I noticed that on the WSP site where they show a pic of the CAI for the max, the upper portion of the CAI is really long, compared to Cattman, PR or Weapon R. It looks like its nearly 3 times longer. Is that the actual upper pipe, or is that just a pic of a CAI for another car? If the pipe was really that long, then you would definitely have to relocate the battery right? Take a look here http://www.warpspeedperformance.com/maxcai.htm

My hybrid(wsp) is a tight fit with the battery. I may trade the CAI piece for a shorter ram offered by Dallas at WSP. If I was going to do it agian I would buy a hybrid Kit from WSP. I have too many girls(not complaining), cars(see my other posts) and school work to do all the work on my intake/heatshield.

papasmurf has a different setup altogether, requirering bat. relocation....I really thought it looked good too >!!

If there was 52 hours in a day I would be happy...also if you could buy sleep in a bottle I would buy it by the case..

take care guys,

Dale
