Question for those who have added dash kits to GLE

I have a question about applying a kit to the climate control/clock area. Those are made out of black plastic that is flush with the wood below for the radio. I'm thinking when I add this kit, it will stick out past the radio, which may look kinda bad...

My question is can I remove those pieces and stick it to whatever is behind the black plastic, or do I have to stick it on top of it?

Thanks

You would not be able to remove the black plastic in the climate control/clock area. Your best bet for having a flush dash kit would be to remove the lower sections that are wood now, paint them flat black, then put them back in and install the dash kit over it. Thats probably the only way to get it flush.

It will be flush...if you look hard enough you will notice that the dash is actually a bit behind the console, this small space will be filled by the dash kit. I would not put a kit on top of the GLE wood (my mistake), I would either trade for a black set or sand and paint black because you will see the old dash under the new dash...

My kit is factory match wood for all the places the GLE doesn't already have wood, thus my desire to make it flush with the existing wood.

What color is the factory match for the GLE's wood trim?

I'm thinking Brazilian Rosewood?

I'm not sure - it's not from Joshua Tree - I think it's some type of burlwood - I will be selling this kit soon however since the Max will be my fiancee's car and she doesn't like anything "aftermarket"
