I had this question ever since I bought my car. Why does the clock dim when the headlights are on? Is there an easy way to keep the clock display well lit regardless of the light switch?

Andi has a rewiring method for this. Somebody post a link to that site.

Dash clock..>

The fact that the clock dims and is not controlled by the
other dash switch is annoying. Here is a way to fix what Nissan should have done.

First remove the clock/vent panel. Find the red/blue (red with blue stripe) wire going to the clock...this wire tells the clock to dim. Cut it and wire a switch into it in series.

I cut the wire so the clock is bright all the time.

Take your pick.

Thanks for the feedback, now I can have a bright light clock, at night. What a concept.

what about the radio?

it also dims when you turn on the lights. Anyone know which wire to cut to keep it bright at night?

Have you ...>

tried the dash light switch? The roller that will brighten
the dash, if you push it all the way to the right, it will
*Click* and that will keep the radio brighter. If not then
I'm not sure.
