While I agree that purposefully killing any animal is unmoral and just wrong, sometimes it is more important to take your own life into account. I have only hit 1 animal, which happened to be a squirrel, and it was because it ran out in front of me when I was doing 55 with another car right on my butt. . . There was no way that I was gonna slam on the brakes and try to avoid it for fear of messing up myself, my car, and the idiot tailgating me. Yes that life can never be brought back, and I did my best to have it go between my wheels and not under (which did happen, but it was still killed anyway). I know that I feel no loss for that squirrel though and would do it again if the situation ever happened again as I feel that one life lost is better than consequences that could arisen otherwise. I know I would be much more likely to try and avoid a cat and would be more shaken if I did hit one, so I think it depends on the animal involved.

I agree entirely with Adidas_Boy. However, if you're the only car around, and it looks like you can avoid hitting the animal with minimal damage to your car/self, then it's cruel not to do so. But yes, sometimes animals get killed accidentally, just like in nature.

Also, anyone who owns outdoor cats is to be implicated at least partially. If you have an outdoor car in an area that has traffic, you're just dumb and you can't expect your cats to live very long.
