JT REAL ALUMINUM KIT QUESTION........
anyone here have the JT REAL Aluminum Kit on there max?? Iam gonna order it but i just want to know how the install was and was it really a pain in the a$$ to put in, like JT makes it out to be. Thanks for your input.
I put mine on a few weeks ago
The hardest part was bending the pieces to match the contours of the dash (The pieces are delivered flat). I really didn't have the tools to do it properly, and kind of messed up the piece just under the center vents. The rest of it was a breeze. I just took my time and was very careful when shaping the pieces.
JT kit
I have the first JT kit and it looks ok, but i want something that looks alittle more stock. something that doesn't have large gaps and something that forms more around the pieces so you cant tell its just stuck on, so what im asking is does the new kit fit better?
Today
I just installed mine today about an hour ago and I like it but you have to get it real hot with a hairdryer so it will bend right to fit on the dash. I mean com'on it is real aluminum so you can't expect much. I really like it alot and I got a steal of a price I got it off ebay for $107.50 plus $15.00 S&H. It takes a good solid hour to do it right and then again it is cold outside so trying to put in on in the cold is a pain. I sat in the car with the heater on high and a hairdryer in hand but i got it done and it is fine to me. So I have a newborn Joshua Tree Real Aluminum Dash Kit. I think Aluminum only looks good in Maximas with the Black interior if you have tan or brown get a woodgrain kit
If it's real aluminum, then why would a hairdryer help with the install? It's not going to get the aluminum hot enough to bend that much easier. On the fake JT kits, heating it helps a lot, but with my PICI real aluminum kit it had to be bent with a mallet to work.
