Re: to lower or not to lower

the age old question. It depends on alot of things, how much $$ u want to spend(wheel and tire costs go up exponentially with size) and if u dont mind hindering ure performance. When u buy rims u get lower profile tires, which shows the wheelgap more. If u get any aftermarket rims and want it to look good, i recommend loweing it. You can see the wheelgap in my sigpic. Thats what 17s will do. Its not that bad, but it doesnt look right now being lowerd.

New wheels and tires wont fill the wheel well at all. They will have (or should have) the same overall diameter as stock no matter what size rim you get.

Check out my homepage...the pics came out darker than I would've liked them (need to work on using shadows ), but you will see how a car looks with H&R Sport Springs, 17's, and 50 series tires. I just got a whole new wheel set up (SSR's & 45 series) and I will post those pics in a couple of days when I get them developed so you can compare.

Hope this helps...

the car looks good how do you like the H+R`s ride also how much did it actualy lower the car and would you stay with 17" rims or move up to 18" if possible.

Right after I lowered the car, the car looked LOW....but now it looks normal, like it came from the factory that way. Honestly I think the car looks better with the 50 series tires than the 45's as the 50's fit the wheel well better. The ride got a bit stiffer once the lower profile tire was installed, but part of that was going from V rated tires to Z rated ones. Overall, the ride is good on the H&R's...it's not something you'd mind taking your chick for a ride in, or that screams 'I lowered my car, check out the bounce'. :P

Maybe the perfect fit would be 18's with 40 series tires....hmmm...but right now I'm happy with what I have.

No worries.....they were $1150 from Anton (Sweetsound2001).

I might be selling these AE's soon, as I am pretty happy with my new rims....but I haven't decided on whether or not I'm going to do this.
