Auto VS Stick

Hi,
Can you plase tell me how much faster the standard is then the auto? I read on the internet that the standard 97 is 6.8 0-60 and the auto is 7.8 0-60 but I have a feeling that's not right.
Thank You,
Paul

thats about right... in the quarter mile, stock, the 5 spd can run mid to high 14's, but the auto runs mid 15's.. That's a huge difference

Don't look at magazine times because they aren't accurate. I was able to do the 1/4 in 15.62 and my 0-60 should be around 7 or 7.1 secs with the given 1/4 time. This is stock.

A stock '98 won't do mid 14's stock.

Also keep in mind that it is much harder to launch and race a 5 speed consistently and only the best drivers can get the magazine times.

I dont think those guys are even power shifting for those tests, since most people dont even know how to power shift.

I think you guys are expecting this...What is powershifting? Taking it to redline? I think stock 5spds run low 15s and stock autos run high 15s.

I didn't get my time in a magazine, it was online so I wanted to make sure as anybody could put whatever they want online. I want to take my car down to the track but I don't know of one here so I can't test this. I love my automatic when I am just crusing but would love a standard when I am racing, they need to come up with a solution for this .
Thanks,
Paul

Not lifting your foot off the gas while upshifting (for a manual car), keeping it pedal to the metal (or sometimes people let off a little but not completely)

Even even online times are not truely accurate. What I'm saying is go by "real world" (people that have gone to the track) times.

I agree. Stock 98's don't run mid 14's. Also remember that track times are heavily dependent on the track itself and driver's exp. So, you should probably just look at it like the auto is slower by .5 to .7 or .8 stock all other things kept equal.

I still had wheelspin off the line. My new tires have grip out the a$$ so I want to hit the track Friday night to see what I can do.

My 95 GXE Auto ran 0-60 in 6.7 and the 1/4 in 15.2

My only engine mod is OSCAI.
