While upshifting, you don't take your foot off the gas. You have it pedal to the metal the whole way while shifting. Or sometimes people let off a little bit but not completely.

Newbie question - I've only driven a couple of 5 speeds, but will be getting my 5 speed Max SE in a couple of weeks.
So, when you're downshifting, you don't have to remove your foot from the gas to shift? Why is this different from upshifting, where you do have to release the gas, shift, then re-gas for the gear to catch?
A simple "Yes" will suffice, if what I wrote above is correct. If someone could explain this in terms of what is going on inside the transmission, this would help me even more.
I'll stop now, before I sound like more of an idiot.
Thanks.

I always thought it was shifting without the use of the clutch. matching revs so the sync rings would just slip into gear

Yeh, powershifting is rowing up through a gear(s) without taking your foot off the gas. Clutchless shifting is different, and I believe it can only be done at one exact point in the powerband on each gear, going at a certain speed. It's not something I've tried out in my Max though
And yea, where can I get me one of them personalized *****? Or a pic of the whole ****?
