Found out why I miss 3rd gear.
I'll dispense with the rant about the poor quality of the pacesetter STS - it can be found on other threads.
Suffice it to say that yesterday I reinstalled the pacesetter STS to its shortest setting and shaved the ball to make it fit properly.
Before the STS, I would on rare occasion miss 3rd when racing/powershifting. After installing the STS, it got worse. After readjusting the STS to its lower setting, it got even worse.
Yesterday, I discovered that I had developed a lazy habit of shifting from 2 to 3 by moving the shifter towards the 1:00 or 2:00 position (picture a clock) instead of moving the shifter towards the 12:00 position. In the shortest position I was having trouble getting it into 3rd in regular driving.
To resolve the problem, I started making certain that my right thumb was on the left side of the shifter and pointing towards 12:00. That makes my forearm point to 12:00 and makes me shift straight to 12:00
VOILA - I now shift into 3rd with no problem even when powershifting.

POWERSHIFTING, as in no clutch? STOP! Don't do it. Trust me. No matter what people say about there being a certain rpm you can do that at, I would recomend you stop. We are not Nissan experts. We do not know the proper specs to be able to do that. A little extra effort won't kill you or cost you seconds if you know how to ****.

Which raises an interesting question, Max_Gator. Assuming you're shifting close to red line, what happens when you powershift and hit the rev limiter?
