Beleive me, I have. There's no info on what I'm looking for. I'd like to take the clear outer lens out, so I can modify the chrome part on the inside. I'd rather ask for people's advice then ruin the tailights myself

I took apart the inner tails by boling a large pot of water, dipping the corner that I wanted to start at in, waiting 30 secs or so. Remove from the water, and began to pry with a butter knife very gently. Keep doing this carefully with all 4 corners and it should come apart with no damage done to the housing.
I haven't tried this with the outer lights, but I would assume it would work just the same.
Also: DO NOT just put the lights in the boiling water and walk away. Keep a close eye on them, and do not let them touch the very bottom of the pot.

Worked for me

My experience is that the inner lights are easy to take apart using a heat gun patience. The outer ones are near impossible to do without cracking. After ruining two pairs i said fug it. =)

Also brief how2. (Although I don't recommend the process.)

Why do you want to do this? Are you thinking of painting inside it or doing some other kind of mod? These lights are fragile as hell. As other people have pointed out, many attempts have resulted in trashed housings. I strongly recommend against it.
