Freeing up some weight...?

I got beat by a cavalier the other day, so now I wanna get all serious and **** about racing.. I know taking out the spare tire frees some weight up, but what else can I do that won't take away any luxuries?

By the way, I talked to the guy with the cavalier. He has headers, CAI, exhaust (don't know about it), upgraded ECU, and he has his gear ratio's changed around.. I think there were some other little things, but I can't remember.

Thanks
-Chris

Your stock... Get a Y-pipe. Its not worth getting stuck in the middle of the freeway with a flat and no spare.

Try eating more foods that are high in protein and less fatty foods like that from fast food resturants.

Soda is bad, water is good.

And try some cardio exercises in the morning. Jogging, biking, that sort of thing. Then make sure to eat a hearty breakfast and lunch and a light dinner.

My mom says I'm not fat, I'm big boned, jerk

I just got new tires last week...but I guess stuff can still go wrong..ya, I'll leave the spare in...

So can you explain to me about the Y Pipe, cause I don't understand how that'll free up weight, I don't know much about cars in the first place.. Also how much would a Y-Pipe be, and what kind would be the best?

Thanks
-Chris

He said that because it doesn't weigh less, well actually for that matter it does. You can probably save yourself 8lbs by switching from the stock pipe to an aftermarket one. BUt what he meant to say is that an aftermarket y pipe adds a pretty godo amount of HP.. and that will help you accomplish your goal of beating a Cavalier (Sp?)

Get a Y PIPE and a CAI and crush him.
You will be Nicolas Cage in Gone in Sixty Seconds, the Cav will be the cops.
Which one? Use the search and avoid starting a long debate on the Org.
Keep you spare tire in. Your stock 2cat pipe is Heavy. Y Pipe can be held in one hand.

PS. Aluminized Y pipe are just as good as the SS ones.

:o)

Weight loss is a VERY important thing that most people overlook. Whenever I get the chance, I weigh parts while they are off the car. Here's a few I can help you with:

Horizontal Rear seat: 10lb
Vertical rear seat: 20lb
Spare tire: 27lb
RASB: 9lb (not that you'd want to take it on and off...)
'96 headlights: 4lb ea, '97 headlights: 3lb ea.
Rear bumper: 23lb (Easy to remove but I can't recommend it)
Jack: 4lb
Battery: 33lb (you can switch to a small battery for the night)
Stock Y pipe: 23lb, Aftermarket Y: 11lb
Stock cat.: 8lb, Aftermarket cat.: 6lb
Stock hood: ~40lb (I think), CF hood: ~15lb (I think).
Passenger seat: I forget Anyone?
Weight of gasoline in your tank: 5.8-6.5 lb/gal.
Weight of water in your windshield washer reservoir: 8.3lb/gal.

That's what I have so far. Hope that helps.
