feels slow.

Hey Guys.

The other day I was at a stop light, and I raced dodge stratus (sedan) and I felt that my car was not as fast off the line as it should have been. I mean, I should have just left him behind right? They are both stock. Could there be some thing wrong with my car? air filter? Gas filter?, etc. Maybe my power seats are slowing me down.

I'll start by putting a JWT air intake.
I have 97 SE - loaded, stock, 79K miles.

out.

that I have to flor it just to make it go !!! - I just did lot's of maitnenace myself (new NGK's , fuel filter ,knock sensor )and car feels heavy and slow , but when I disconeted the negative battery terminal and I left it that way overnight - next morning car felt great I mean it - the gas pedal was very firm , also the brake pedal
and steering was tight - and transmission acted great too !!!
to bad it only lasted a day - next day car was slow again .......
I really don't know what is wrong with my max !!!

That sound like a great solution (disconecting the batery) hahah.
I think that changing the filters should help, but I still think there could be something else. And I know it's not the gas, because I always use the same one. (91 octane though, I'm in CA)

You could RESET your ECU...

Then drive your car harder, more WOT...Floor it, PUNCH IT..
REDLINE>>>>>>>slow down>>>>PUNCH IT AGAIN!!!!

This will help you ECU to adjust to more performance.
Air/fuel ratio, timing/spark, idle etc.

You ECU might have gotten used to sluggish daily driving.

My car felt sluggish even after all the MODs that I put in, so I reset the ECU and dove HARD for about a week.

Now it is much more responsive...I did a search on this, check out

If you have an automatic, that JWT intake wont speed you up at all.. especially off the line.. If anything it will make you slower.

I would start by replacing fuel filter, checking the spark plugs, basic maintenance stuff..

When I installed my PR CAI I resetted the ECU but I had no idea or ever heard that I should drive it hard to "adjust" the ECU. I think I'll reset it again and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

So should I still install the JWT intake? I though My air filter was bad to begin with because I am getting bad gas milage, that' why I though that would help.

I had the fuel filter, sparks, etc replaced like 10k miles ago, I though I didn't need to do that for another 20K or so. Maybe I'll change it any ways.

Thanks.
