which muffler

I just got my maxima a week ago, its a '95 GXE and all stock except for the K&N air filter. I want a new muffler but dont know whats availabe on the market thats good. Can I get any kind of performance muffler? or does it have to be one specifically for maximas?

you can pretty much get whatever u want as far as mufflers to your stock b pipe, even a coffe can ... but if ur looking for gains, u want to replace that b pipe as well. Replacing the muffler alone may give u 3 hp if ur real lucky

Re: which muffler

are all the diameters of the mufflers going to be the same as the existing exhaust on the car? or will i have to make or weld something on?

depends, if u get a stillen or hks muffler, its oem bolt on, but if its a generic muffler, then it'll have 2 be welded

Keep your stock muffler and weld on a nice SS polished tip. Pep Boys?

Buy a Y pipe (warpspeed) and go around whipping 1.8L APC Performance Posterboys.

You can have them installed a Meineke $20 labor on the tip and
$75 to $100 on the Y Pipe.

Don't waist your money on a Muffler alone. I know it's tempting...

There will be no change in the tone.
It will look cool. 4inch is good, 4.5 will fit

Get a CAI off ebay for $50 and weld on a 4.5inch tip.
I think you will be happy with that set up...
CAI will give you the Growl you want and the tip...the look.

Y Pipe is your destiny......

no no no! silly silly newbie!
haha no for real though man, the tip only adds looks, but you wont have the satisfaction of a bolt on mod, not that mufflers really help out much, unless you upgrade more exhaust piping and rev high-
chill with the tip, just a tip.

Hey, why is the Cold Air Intake so much cheaper (~$50) than the K&N Air Filter ? I would think that the FILTER would be cheaper since its just a filter. I'm probably making an a$$ outta myself with this question but whatever.

I personally would rather get the muffler than just the tip...the tip alone looks like its missing something...which, in fact, it is.

OK I may be a newbie ..as far as posting but my mods are for real...My advice to him was what he was "tapping" around about...

Tip only...If you really want to be real try the mods that I have purchased and tried...go ahead buy them...

warpspeed y pipe, greddy sp, rtcat, udp, cai

Fast, like you havent felt yet, almost like you are going to blow a gasket or your transmission,

LOUD. like "ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE"...those with similar set ups can confirm. I don't buy stupid Newbie products/lighting accessories and POST them as....MODS.

IF WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS JUST A MUFFLER TO LOOK AND SOUND BETTER then Honestly you are waisting your money...like LISTING LIGHTINS ACCESSORIES AS MODS.
