sluggish and bad mileage

hi i have a 97 Maxima SE auto. couple of questions i was hoping anyone could help me out with. first: my car feels very sluggish off the line, and especially around 20 to 30 mph even when I floor it the car's not really going anywhere. RPM remains low and the transmission doesn't kick down either.

Second: I get really lousy mileage. In city driving, I get around 15 mpg. On the highway, I get 21 to 24 (going around 70 to 80 mph).

Is there something wrong? And if there is... do any of you know what's possibly wrong or what I could do to fix it?

Thanks!

Check your ECU for any error codes and try driving no faster than 65mph. The latter will increase your gas mileage.

If your getting 15mpg there is something wrong with your car...
either that or you have an incredible led foot...

whens the last time you get a tune up?

it feels sluggish from 20-30 because you are an auto and your tranny refuses to downshift when u gun it, i have the same problem with mine =[ ........only way to solve that problem is to get vb mod and get the jwt ecu upgrade i guess

Shouldn't the automatic transmission still kick down to first gear or something? I'm actually not sure when I had my last tuneup cause I bought this car used.

How do I reset my ECU? Sorry I'm a car idiot
