fuel filter and hood scoop questions...reply ASAP plz
fuel filter and hood scoop questions...reply ASAP plz
me and my friend juts changed my fuel filter, and we did it all fine, cept for the fact that a little fuel spilled out of the hoses.....is this a problem? i let the hood open and all windows open and its been sitting for a good 30 minutes now.....should i worry about it? will it spark any way?
another question, we took out my hood scoop.... 3 questions about this..
A) the boost sensor, we got a clamp and tied it down to another wire....it moves around a little, should that be a problem?
B) there was some type of sensor going into the scoop....what we did was pulled it out of the scoop and just attached it to the other end, and then tied that part down to another wire.....is that fine?
C)there was a type of Y in the pipe, and it went down to a small opening, that went too a box under the battery...what is that, and should i juts leave the small opening going under to that box??
well get back to me ASAP, and let me know so i can test this bad boy out...thanx...sorry for it being so long....peace

Don't worry too much about the gas, just make sure you have the vehicle outside and keep a fire extinguisher handy just in case.
The boost sensor: I found a spot on the front of the engine that had a bolt which I removed and attached the boost sensor there, keeps it firm and out of the road. I think I had to drill a hold in the metal sensor holder.
The only other sensor is the temp sensor which should be in the air flow somewhere although I hear it works ok just tied out the road.
The box under the battery is a resonator that is supposed to keep the intake noise down, you can remove it or just leave it there.

Some feul almost always spills in the feul filter change. If it's less than half a cup, then you should be fine. If it's more, take a wet rag and wipe all the areas that feul spilled over.
A) The boost sensor is fine. Apparently it doesn't really do much.
B)It looks like you moved the air temp sensor around. Best place for it to be is after the filter in front of the MAF, or behind the MAF in the custom $15 piece you made. I converted my PR CAI to what you have, and the CAI upper piece behind the MAF, like your custom piece, has a hole for the air temp sensor.
C) That opening is another resonance chamber for the stock intake system. People worry about CAIs drinking water and the stock setup even has air going thru the wheel well area under the battery. That hole actually feeds back behind and comes up into your stock filter box. You can leave it, plug it, whatever, no difference.
Actually, since you have the scoop, you can still use it in its stock position. Plug up the two holes it has so that air coming into the scoop only goes out thru the back end of the scoop. put it back in it normal spot, the back end will sit right under the POP filter, feeding it cold air. Also, you can put your boost sensor in A) above back onto the scoop.
Have fun!
