Other than size, is there a noticeable difference w/ the 225/50/16 in handling or ride compared to the required 215/55/16, and is it worth it to go w/ the 225/50/16 or stick w/ the 215/55/16?

I have to say for more comfort go with the 215/55 its 5mm narrower but 5mm higher and that makes a differnce. but if you want better road feel and handeling go with the 225/50 you have a stiffer sidewall and more tire touching the ground. Hope this helps.

I have the wider yokohama Avid V4's on my car with the stock SE rims. I like them a lot. Good road feel and great looks. Better than the michelins and stock toyos for sure.

Yeah. Since the stock 16'' SE wheels are 6.5 inches wide...it's better to get the most narrow tire onto the wheel. well, I mean more like the most optimal size..anything too wide will not improve handling.

I was reading about this...if you keep the ratio of the tire width and the wheel width above 80 or 90%...something like that, then you have a nice sized tire.
