Tornado - what is it?
I went to my local Checker auto parts today (and then I went over to Napa auto parts) and they told me I should buy this thing called a Tornado for my 1998 automatic Maxima. They said it would increase my power dramatically.
What is a "Tornado" and what does it do? Does anybody have one on their car? Is it some sort of special filter? Will it really give me that much more power?

Re: Tornado - what is it?
The makers of these "Tornados" claim that they have great power gain and fuel economy because they force the air into a spin and allow it to enter the manifold much smother. However, this theory cannot work because the air passes though the butterfly, which would kill the spin. Also, for the V-engines, once the air hits the manifold, it splits into two parts. There is no way for the air to continue to move in a spin through the manifold.
