Rear Brake Pads

Rear Brake Pads
For those who have replaced their rear brakepads, could you point out to me which one is the inside pad, and where the "wear indication" (the metal plate) is (top or bottom)?
I replaced mine (front and back), and for the fronts, I know that the inside is where the pad with wear indicator at THE TOP position. However, to my surprise, when I took my rears apart, the inside pad is where the pad with wear indicator at THE BOTTOM position.
Is this what is should be for the rears ? The wear indicator at the bottom?
Thanks guys!

Re: Rear Brake Pads
Ohhh...come on....
Guys, please tell me when you install the rear brake pads, is the inner brake pads have the wear indicator on the upper part or lower part?
The reason I asked this stupid question is because I suspect the rears were put in upside down.....by whoever install them before me...

Really....?
Thanks Breaux124....
I did both fronts and backs about two weeks back, and I was surprised to see that the rears are put upside down. Oh well, I think I will have to live with it.
The annoying part is, I need to re-do my rears because something is not positioned correctly (squeeky noises).

I'm pretty sure they're symetrical, so it doesn't really matter which direction the wear indicator is.

Out of curiosity, how loud are the 'squeeky' noises? I've had my '97 SE for a little over 2 months and the brakes make the worst, high-pitched squeek I've ever heard. I've got very little car knowledge and the dealer basically told me it's normal noise and gave me the service bulletin from Nissan that describes OEM brakes and such. Seem bogus to me, but I've got no clue.

Make sure the rear brakes are seated correctly and the shims are properly positioned, and then try the disc quiet. My rears squeaked and then I adjusted the shims and added some disc quiet and they've been quiet since (about 2 months). Also, clean the rotors with brake cleaner, sometimes this helps too.
