Hi. Im new to this site and also a new owner of a '96 Maxima GLE.

I'm getting a whistling noise from the passenger side rear lower area of the engine a minute or so before the cooling fan kicks on. After the fan kicks on the whistling stops. The fan will turn off and still no more whistling. Just when its up to the temp where the fan will turn on again the whistling starts up.

Its pretty loud also. You can hear it inside the car. Anyone else experiance this? If so what was the fix?

I have the same problem but not sure...it almost sounds like a squeeky belt or something...havent gotten is checked out tho...could be hard to diagnose...ill get back to u

I tried checking it a little further today (before it started raining) Almost sounds like it could be the alt belt tensioner pulley.

Very strange how it does make the noise at specific intervals though.........

Still stumped. Any others???

Mine makes the same noise while warming up but after the car is fully warmed up, it goes away. Do I have the same problem as 69CHARGER_RT?
