I'm thinking of getting a y-pipe soon. I've heard of a hissing sound that it makes,is this true and I've heard of people putting headerwrap on it to stop the hiss,Jeff Ketch. I hear also headerwrap helps with heat thus helping the Pipe "perform" better. Can anyone help me on this situation? I am thinking of getting this and keep everything else in my exhaust factory from being on this board a little while everyone says this is the best HP for the money and I don't want an extremely loud exasut so this is my best bet on HP and low noise output,no muffler,free-flow cat,b-pipe. By keeping the stock exhaust I will appear to be a sleeper and not draw attention to my exhaust but then again I like the growl from my intake. Thank You in advance William.

Header wrap does help a bit,

it made my Y-Pipe about 65% quiter,Some people say not to do it because of water getting under the wrap and causing rust over time, you could buy a Cattman SS Y-Pipe and rust would not be a issue, Just thought I would warn you of a possible concern.

I like mine wrapped. It sounds nice and it stays hotter. Also it helps you with emmisions.

The rust theory is true, however, the whole concept of header wrapping it is also true. You decide. Looks or power..........

Whatever you decide, just remember, using header wrap on a Jet-Hot coated Y-pipe will void the Jet-Hot portion of the warranty.

Was wrapped for 1 full year. When the wrap was removed, there was still no rust. I say not to worry about any "ideas" about rusting with a Stillen Y pipe and header wrap. It's a very remote possibility, that has yet to occur on any Max that I've seen.
Wrap it, enjoy the silence, and if you want, check under the wrap every 6 months or so. You'll probably find what I did, and that was NO RUST!
