Uh oh...Can I fix this?

I had a local tranny shop flush my auto recently, and I discovered last night on this site that if you use most anything other than the Nissan "D" auto tranny fluid, then the ATF may have a higher level of Zinc or ash. I remember telling the shop that my Max does not take Dextron-III, and they agreed. When I picked it up, they said all they had to do was refill it and add a quart of some kind of conditioner that all of the foreign makes need that converts the fluid to the right kind. Sounded fishy to me, but I was in a hurry. My question is-If I take this Max to the dealer, and get the Sucker-pump treatment to change the fluid again, will this help? What damage have I caused already by driving on it (granted only lightly 10 miles a day for 3,600 miles)? It seems to shift ok-maybe a little slipping when you really get on the gas-but then I may just be paranoid.

I can't comment on the "some kind of conditioner" your shop added. I don't know what it was or what it contained. Additives are not authorized by Nissan.
Yes, you can have the dealer do a purge and refill, eliminating all the used fluid.
No, you have not harmed your car by driving it with Dexron III. The only unknown factor is the "some kind of conditioner".
Please read your Owner's Manual regarding recommended lubricants. This will give you peace of mind.
