Anyone ever replace a fusible link?
Hey,
Like a bozo, I reconnected my battery in reverse on my 98 and blew out the fusible link. I ordered one in from courtesynissan and am going to replace it this weekend. Anyone know how to do this? It's the 120A one located in the the middle of the underhood fusebox near the air filter. Also my car starts fine but is not charging the battery (according to my mutimeter) what else could I have blown out in that car. Any input is appreciated.
Thks
Chris

If it's not charging the battery, does you car still runs? If so, then you have a good alternator. What's kind of reading are you getting at the battery? Sounds like you have a bad battery now.

Yeah the car still runs but when the car is running and I put on the headlights the power at the battery drops (according the multimeter). I did this last week and with the car running the battery was in the high 11's (volts) when the car was off it was in the low 12's so something is drawing while it's running. Also when I took the car out the voltage on the battery was lower after a 40 mile drive than when I started. That's how I surmised that the battery is not charging. God I wish it were the battery! I got a Sears top of the line battery and their warranties actually mean something (I know they would replace it). I can see the fusible link is definitely burned out but I can't imagine it would effect the car charging. It looks simply like the main conduit for Accessory power.
