I guess i have a problem where have somehow activated some type of silet mode to my alarm.

Panic button works
Lights still flash

Everthing works fine except the alarm does not make sound unless I push the panic button(holding the 1 button for about 3 sec). Anyone know how to get it back in the right mode, i.e. make a beep when locking and unlocking and alarm sound when alarm is tripped. Any help would be aprreciated, thanks

try hitting button 2 before hitting button 1. I am assuming you use button 1 to lock/unlock or arm/disarm. go try it and let me know how you fare.

You don't, by any chance, have a "valet" option with your alarm?

It sounds like you activated it.

i had the same thing happen to me. it did have to do with the valet option, so with the key in the ignition and on the on, hold the button for like 30 seconds and the alarm should sound for a second and you should be all set.

Yep, it is in valet mode...

on newer models... you can activate/deactivate it also by:

open door, press arm, silent, arm again... ie (button 1,2,1)

That's probably how you got it in that mode in the first place.

yu definetly have it in the valet mode and to my opinion thats the best so no one can really hear yu when yu are diarming the car since the maxima originally came with an alarm system that flashes the lights id advice yu to leave it in valet mode we put it in permanent valet mode on all our cars back home

i thought with valet mode, it disarms the alarm and is basically just like keyless entry. in my opinion, that's no good. someone could break in easily and your alarm wouldn't go off. with my remote, if you press 2 then 1, it doesn't beep and just flashes the lights, but the alarm is still on. i use that a lot but would never leave my car on valet mode all the time.
