Dead even with a CRX, what does he have?

A few days ago I raced a nicely done CRX (Nice paint job, subtle bodykit, nothing too flashy). I stopped at the light and he was just getting to the light when it turned green, so I guess he had about a 10km rolling start. We were DEAD EVEN until we both let off at about the top of 3rd gear for me (I heard him hit 5th by that time). Just wondering if anyone knows what he might have had done to his car (No turbo or s/c that I could hear).
Since those things are so light, I wonder how much hp he was pushing at the wheels.

My mods are in my sig...

Edit: I forgot to mention...my car was weighed down by my new tires and wheels in the back seat/trunk. I wonder if that made a difference...

If he had a simple GSR 1.8 liter motor, that's probably all it would take to keep up w/ a 4-gen. Remember those CRXs are very light. You probably give up a good 500-600lbs. When you are light, it doesn't take much torque to be quick. With the GSR's high hp + the CRXs stock gearing, that thing should be quick

most ppl with civics/crx's who are SMART swap in a new motor... otherwise theres not much potential with their stock motors.

most likely he had a b16, b18b, b18c, or b18c5

Thanks Cashj2002.

I think it was a metallic red, and I think he had a white banner (dont remember of what) across his windshield. Lowered, and I forget what kind of rims, but they looked like 17s.
White guy driving too.

An engine swapped CRX with a GSR motor could probably run a spraying 4th gen with a SuperCharger! Ok, MAYBE not, but they are wicked fast! I think they will pull low 13's on slicks with JUST a GSR motor, intake, headers, and exhaust.

I had a buddy swap a gsr motor into a civic, then they turbo'd the sucker and put a 100 shot nos in it. Sh*t that thing was fast!!!!
Now if only we could swap a 300zx tt in our engine bay.......

probably a b16 with bolt ons at the most. anything more he would have taken you. witha stock gsr a crx will be in the 14's. one of my boys had a crx with ls vtec. ran low 14's. now he's running integra type r motor bolt ons some engine work. in the middle 13. keeping up with some of the turbo integras out on the track. but dude those honda's do deserve so respect. in stock form most of them are the slowest turd buckets in the world but with the right motor or set up they are forces to be reaconed with. there is a reason why honda are one of the most commonly built imports. small, light, easy to work on, and they respond extremly well to mods.

just my thoght's

most of my friends drive and build honda.

one of these days i will get them all.

Jeffy what are you talking about a b18c'd CRX would rip a 4th gen max...it was probably just a "simple" b16a, which is good enough to run high 14s.

simple b16A1 witgh 160hp and a couple mods to bring it to 175 in a 2000lbs car is like low low 14's. they can be made fast but they are still ugly.
