I don't now about the american cars but the canadian SE auto's have it. Easy to tell just check the plate on the firewall if it says RE4F04A its a one-wheeler-peeler, it is a RE4F04V its LSD.

What is a LSD good for. I have a plain I30, so I doubt I have it. Would I find any gains? Where is the firewall any way, Id like to make sure I dont have one!

The firewall is that thing you look at when you open the hood. Its the firewall between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment. The info plate is on the passenger side, just below the windshield wipers.

The LSD is good for a lot better traction than an open differential. I transfers energy from the spinning wheel to the non-spinning wheel. In essence, when drag racing you spin both wheels when you take off vs only one without LSD so much better traction and hopefully 60' times. That is a pretty simplified version of what it really does but you get the idea.

Check this out if you want really want to know how it works.

I bought my I30t used and I think the previous owner took the LSD out. If I'm going up a hill and it is wet, i can peel out till the sun comes out. If i floor it on a wet surface, I do a one wheel peel out. I checked my firewall before, it says RE4F04V. Maybe I can take it back to Infiniti and have it checked, but thats gonna cost me

What year is your i30t? I don't know if the 96-97 had them or not.

My 96 i30 5spd (non touring) has it. The tranny code is different from you guys have posted though. I think we have determined that all 5spd i30s have it, and all i30t models have it, regardless of the tranny. I have not yet seen anybody with a non-touring auto that has it.

Another way to check, if you have a 16" spare (Infiniti folks) it is highly likely that you have it.

The greatest benefit I have percieved so far has been when accelerating very hard out of corners, there is very little wheel spin. You can feel the inside tire trying to break loose, but all that power is sent to outside tire.....feels VERY nice!!!

I have a 98 I30t, I seriously don't think I have one. If i floor it on a turn, one tire will peel out like crazy

How much would It cost to buy and install it on an I30? Would the gains be worth the cost?

My 96 I30T has it. I know for a fact and I could tell the fist time I drove it. I remember an article I found when researching my car before I bought it. It was written before the I30 was released but it said it was VSLD was going to be an option for the Touring package along w/ the heated seats and such. I think Nissan changed it's mind. I have heard on this forum from people like Fst96se that that have a non Touring 5-speed and have VSLD. I think he is correct about all 5-speed having it. I don't think it would be worth installing, although it's really nice having it.

It's odd having a 16" spare?

I'm sure the diameter of the tires are the same, wouldn't you think?

A Little side note, I sold my stock BBS wheels and tires off my T on Ebay for $400. You think I got a good price? They are actually really rice stock wheels, although their not the best looking. I am starting to think I should have kept them for these Chicago winters.

Wow, ya, you did get a good price for them! Were the tires in nice shape? I sell my cars quick enough that if I bought nice aftermarket wheels I want to keep my factory ones to put back on for a sale.

I have thought about getting the T wheels for mine, and putting a spoiler on it!

I put 99 i30 headlights on last night, looks 100 times better.

The tires were almost brand new less than 5k miles but were cheapies. The guy I bought it from need tires and just stuck those on there to make it easier to sell. They were the 205's instead of the 215's which really sucked. I plan on driving this car till it dies, I have 85K right now.

If I were you I would get the spoiler, it makes a big diff. As far as the T wheels, you would just be getting 1/2" wider wheels and thats it. I would get some 17"

I am jealous about the headlights! How much $ for them. Did you get them from salvage or dealership. I did the clearing of the front corners and I should not have. Did not go as well as the back.

Did you ever clear your tails?

As far as wheels are concerned, I like to keep a stock look. (Well, not always, but it tends be lots cheaper!) I have upgraded my cars with stock wheels many times, for example I had an Accord LX and put EX wheels on, my 96 Maxima I put 99SE wheels on. I would like some 17" i35 or g35 wheels, but even on ebay they are $$$. I put 215/60-15's on my stock wheels, they are aggressive Nankang directional tires, and those are the only indication on the outside of the car that it might be fast. I kinda like that!

I will do the spoiler before too long.

The 99 Headlights I got with the cornering lamps and the turn signals. I had a cracked cornering lamp. I got everthing last night, put the heads in and was replacing the cornering lamp. I couldn't get it to go in and forced....yup, broke a tab off the back. So I will need to do the super glue thing and hope that fixes it. I will PM you with how much I paid. They were off of a wrecked i30, but had some pitting from road debri. Still, looks 100 times better! I took a bunch of pics, but I can't find my downloading cable for my camera! I will post pics before too long.

I also did a custom radar detector install by the rear view! Fun!
