okay short and simple,


my maxima 98gxe automatic is gettin an intake,y-pipe and suspension changed this weekend and my friend bought a ALL WHEEL drive subaru WRX with 227 HP and 14.1on quarter mile.

I WANNA KNOW IF I CAN SMOKE THIS BASTARD and also soon im gonna put a stillen charger and get it to 300 horses...

i wanna know if i can smoke him with the intake and pipe and
can a WRX have better MODS than a maxima!?!??!?!?!

my GUESS is whoever can drive better around turns..........if its straight well i dont know since i dont have intake and a Ypipe, im sure there are people here that have raced, and have more knowledge of this......

A WRX runs 0-60 in 5 something and a very quick quarter. If he knows how to launch, he will rip you off the line. A WRX was easily made for speed, and not looks. I would put the supercharger in first and then hope he isnt too modded. Good luck however...

mmmm. depends on the kind of race. if from a stop, u'll get killed if the wrx driver knows how to launch the thing. have a friend w/ a 2k2 m3 and we only beat him by a car length up to about 70. if ur doing it on the highways, u'll have him.

and yes, wrx have more support behind then in terms of mods so they have a lot more to do. a simple chip increases their power significantly. i'm pretty sure just a supercharger will not get u to 300hp...

ok i GENERAL,

a maxima 4th is BETTER than a WRX correct?

i will have a supercharger giving it 90hp to my 187 THAT I HAVE NOW.
YPIPE AND CAI- say 25HP in total thats
115 to the crank after i get it from the shop.

ADD THAT TO 187 EQUALS 302 AT THE CRANK.
im sure he cant launch better than me can he?

if ur talking 300 to the crank, then yes, it's possible. 300 to the wheel is different though cause of loss of power due to tranny. where did u get 187? have u dynoed? if ur geting that from a stock motor, with an auto, that's amazing!

first off your auto ...
and if he does 14.1 like you claim then theres no way that you beat him N/A
the fastest N/A max on this board does the 1/4 mile in 14.2 with more than just intake and pipe
and if he can drive the car correctly than he'll get a better launch than you since he's AWD
one of my friends has one and he smokes me off the line pretty badly but on the high way we're exactly the same till I hit my limiter. plus im 5 spd.

aight so a final answer,

with 302 on the crank, or lets just say with AN INTAKE AND YPIPE AND NO STILLEN CHARGER,

THE CRX WILL SMOKE ME ON THE LAUNCH, NOW CAN HE SMOKE ME WHILE WE ARE DRIVING AND THEN WE BOTH GUN IT AT THE SAME TIME,
IF WE ARE GOIN 40MPH AND WE BOTH GUN IT.... AM I GONNA BE CLOSE OR NO?

Even with a y-pipe and air-intake, you'll get like 170-175 at the wheels a WRX will get like 193 at the wheels, plus its 100 pds lighter and all-wheel drive. Your comparing apples to oranges and you have no chance, if you do install a supercharger you still don't have much of a chance I'd be surprised if you get 14.5 quarter from an auto with supercharger, intake and y-pipe. I have a friend with a WRX with a ECU and exhust and he puts out almost 300 hp to the wheels and does a quarter in mid 13s... so pretty much no matter how you do it you'll lose, although we have a little better high end then the stock WRX, so if you really race past 100 you might start catching up, but if he has an ECU your gone. Get a manual. The damn auto tranny eats up 10% of your power.

well you guys should give sharabi a break.....

there is a chance that he can beat the WRX on these occasions:

1) If there if a woman driving, she doesn't know how to drive stick and starts off from the 3rd gear.... (even then she might pull him)

2) If the person in the WRX starts off in reverse gear

3) If the person in the WRX is shifting gears with using his legs....

4) OR if the driver of the WRX looks similar to this:


otherwise there is no chance in hell...........

I beat a stock WRX with my GLE. I had to play catch up since she (yes a girl) took me off the line.

the WRX can have WAY better mods (more potential from turbo), so be careful.

stock vs stock i think a maxima 5speed would be close with the edge to the sube. a lightly modded maxima (such as mine) vs a stock sube would still be close, but i'd give the edge to the maxima. i ran 14.6 in my dad's WRX the first and only time it's been to the track. that was the very first run i ever made with the sube. race him when his engine is hot because the heatsink can throw off times up to a full second. my 3rd run in the WRX was 15.3. if the launch is not perfect you have a chance. it is very easy to bog a WRX in 1st gear. all you have to do is powerbrake your automatic and go. however, since you are an automatic i give the sube the advantage in almost everything. best chance is to race him from a crawl when the sube cannot launch from high rpms and the lag is still there. but what are the chances of that happening? nill..and don't race him to 130mph and decide you want to turn

A stock WRX only beat me by a car length in a street race, and we started dead even with a light for a start, he launched a **** load faster(of course) and I caught up, with a charger this guy should beat him unless being auto makes that much of a difference?

You dont stand a chance. And pray when you get your supercharger installed that he hasnt also done some mods. With 1k he can get his car in the low to mid 13s.

With a few grand he can hit high 11s. Be careful they can be built to be beasts without too much money.

dont let anyone here fool you...that WRX will walk all over you if u only have intake and y-pipe...that combination will give you an extra 25 hp MAX which added to your 190 will only be 215 compared to his lighter and stronger 227....

BUT!!!! once u put that supercharger in...HMPH!! you'll murder him!!! convincingly

I highly doubt that a 5 spd would smoke a WRX. It wouldn't even be a race if its off the line. The stock WRX does mid and low 5's 0-60 and a 5 spd max are at least or close to a sec behind. Of course these are done by pros and stuff but a decent driver will still beat a experience driver in a max no question. If you're an auto maybe if he gives u an head start...

For the auto guy, you'll get smoke big time. Even if you add a SC or NOS, the WRX should still be able to beat you. Unless you have a much smaller pulley on the SC and high shot of NOS. That's if the WRX is still stock. Add more mods on the WRX, forget about it. You'll be left in the dust no matter what you do.

I was talking with a kid in town today, with minor mods, he is running LOW 13s and his personal best is a 13.0. Do you have any idea how much modification it would cost to get our front wheel drive heavy sedan to run 13.0s?

I think it would take a supercharger, all possible bolt ons, and a really good driver to be able to hit 13's in a max. Oh yeah and 5 speed.

I saw a post on here yesterday with some maximas hiting 13.5's It's possible. Personally, if I know that a car is significantly faster than mine, then I won't even try to race it. I would just play the guy. Rev up my engine and watch him react. He'll want to race and rev too. When the light turns green, I'll just watch him or her peel out and fly down the street. I'll go on my merry way and laugh at the whole incident. I'd love to see that expression on their face when they realize they've just been played.
