Ian, maybe your sender is grounding out on something? As far as boost leaks, did you check by hand while reving the engine, that might help you find them, and your BOV might be set too loose, not sure if you checked that or not... I'll help ya out tomorrow if you want, just gimme a call...

I checked it on the pipe, but didn't mess with the settings on it....
We checked and checked the wiring....the sender is literally hanging right now and not touching anything....the ground wire runs to - on the battery, and the sender goes straisght to the "S" (for sender, obviously), on the back of the guage.
And I will definately call you tomorrow...what time are you available?
Thanks,
IanS

The BOV should still be 'bleeding' off air at idle or you have it too tight. Don't force the hex adjustment, it should spin with just a little effort after the nut is loosened.

Good news is I figured out the FP Guage...works fine now...we tapped the ground wrong...twice....

Did you use a product like Permatex Instant Gasket for the BOV? When I took off my BOV I found this black rubbery thing around the pipe opening. I bought some Permatex and used it when remounting the BOV.
Anytime after 10am...

ebmorgan lied to me...
I was pressing the gas on the car from the inside, he said it didn't work. I checked the next day myself from the engine bay, and it's fine.

Well, I Dynoed today
With the MEVI - 267hp
Without - 231hp
I know it should be better, but I'm only getting 6 lbs of boost at redline...
I had their techs check the vacuum system and the BOV settings. They said everything was perfect.
THis is really bugging me, but hey, my car is now the fastest Max in the NW.
I'm leaving any further troubleshooting alone for awhile...I know my A/F is good now, and that's what matters to me most at this point.
Anyone with any suggesstions on the boost, let me know.

VIAS is "Variable Induction Air System", and is what Nissan literally called the MEVI.
Still trying to figure out why I'm only running 6lbs of boost....this is starting to anger me...
But thanks for the compliments...not perfect yet, but I'm not going to complain about 267hp.
By the way, I don't have the data files yet...he should E-Mail them to me tomorrow.

i wonder if its becuz now there is more volume to fill with the mevi and what not, there was some 3rd gen in the general maxima forum that has the same problem since he put in his custom front mount intercooler, im thinkin more space to fill is causing less boost, smaller pipes?

I did this on the dyno, and without the MEVI I get 231hp. With it on at 5000 RPMs, I get 269.
i also had the thought that maybe the boost was enough pressure to push open the MEVI early, causing problems, so i had soemone watch it while on the Dyno. It didn't open until it was supposed to.
So the MEVI is working the way it should. Also, mardiGrasMax had the SC before his MEVI, and got a +25hp gain with no loss of boost with it as opposed to without it, so there is a precedent.
I tried using sealer around the ambient air temp sensor today and checked the BOV to make sure it wasn't opening early and had a good seal.
The next thing I'm going to try is removing the BOV completely and sealing that spot off to see if there's a difference, but I can hear it when it goes, and it's not going early, so I'm 90% sure that's not it.
Can the belt being too tight cause the pulleys to slow down?
