Question about manual vs automatic

hi, i have a 90 gxe max and i want to get a 96 or higher model after summer, i just wanted to know what is really better? i dont know to much about cars so this is y im asking. i really dont want to go racy i just wana maybe lower it and put some nice wheels on it. no mods, thats just a waste of money, so besides racing, y is a manual better than an auto, i just want the facts so wheni do go lookin, i have an idea of whats the best to get,and when u drive an auto, does it ride as smoothly as an auto? thanks a lot

"Better" is a relative term. And please use the edit feature to correct the grammar in your post. IMHO, if you just want looks, just get the auto so you don't have to reposition your ganster lean when driving in order to shift gears.

Depends if you know how to drive a manual. If you plan on getting no mods, then leave the manual to others and get a auto

Get a manuel, I got my first car as an auto, my I30! And will NEVER get an auto again. Manuels are so much more fun to drive, a smooth ride, and FASTER!

I drive a manual. Autos are way smoother. I can drive a manual smoothly, but it takes some effort, whereas on the auto it's completely effortless. If smoothnees is your absolute priority, then get an automatic.

Go with the auto if you just want to look fly.

Then you can have the gangsta lean and throw peace signs out the window at all the fly hotties

True.. its kind of hard to look smooth driving a stick. Talking on a cell phone, dropping the seat back, etc.. aint easy. But if you are in it for the speed and really enjoy driving, get a manual. Simple as that.

In which people that have the gangsta lay will end up with gangsta neck problems.

Had to be Bags....

Listen, the decision should be based on the type of driving you do most of. If you drive in a lot of traffic to and fro, then it's hands down an auto since you just drive. If you go mostly short distance w/little or no traffic or you want to be quicker off the line for some reason, then go with the manual. As for smoothness, I personally have had both and my auto is more smooth than the manual. In reality, both are smooth enough not to really notice the diff. unless you've driven both and can just slightly tell. Maxima's have never really been "rough" unless you get to tweaking on the suspension and stiffen it up considerably. A lot of us here really split hairs when we say that putting this spring or that strut makes it "rough", but it's because we were probably used to the stock ride that's pretty plush comparitevely. (<----misspelled.)

What are you guys talking about? I still manage to get a bonafide right-hand-side gangsta lean goin on in my manual.
Actually it's the only position that feels somewhat comfortable to shift from to me - at 6'1, my legs feel too cramped in this car even with the seat bottom all the way back. I'd prefer a more upright position but any closer and my knees knock the wheel, even at its highest tilt.

To me the main advantage of a manual is overall control, not speed/racing advantages. Smoothness is fine once you get to trust your feet. Plus driving an auto is so personally non-engaging....when I have to drive a spare that's an auto, I practically fall asleep at the wheel.

I think the only kinds of cars I'd want an auto in would be either a truck of any kind, or a real luxurious ride. The latter, I'd definitely get mah gangsta-lean on, and propah left-hand side lean at that
