ECU Code - Cylinder 1 Misfire

99 GLE, 42k

Thanks to whoever pointed me to the ECU codes - great help. I ran them last night and came back with 0608 which is "Cylinder 1 Misfire". I'm reading that the plugs have platinum tips and shouldn't wear out before 60k, but I only have 42k on it.

What else could cause this, and how do I tell which thing it is (coil/plug/etc.)

Also, if I do replace the plugs, should I REALLY drop $60 on new NGK's from the dealer?

Thanks,
Aidan

Could be a fuel delivery problem as well, like a sticky injector.

As far as replacing plugs, I'd get NGK Coppers rather than Platinums, as they last 1/2 as long but cost about 1/5 as much. You can do the math there. The PN you need is BKR-5E11 assuming your car is naturally aspirated.
