any suggestions on custom intake?

I want to build a custom intake, but I did not know what to use for piping. I thought of using PVC but it so heavy and I do not know if it can withstand all that heat. Therefore, any suggestions will be grateful for and there must be a lot of you people out there that build your own.

use 3in dia exhaust pipe from autozone, heavy gauge steel but you may have to drill and weld hose fittings. or just put holes on the rubber coupler like mentioned above and replace the accordion section.you will need an extra coupler for that.
