how do i know if my o2 sensor is bad?

installed ypipe and noticed the front o2 sensor didn't fit right
in the new ypipe
and after hours of trying to get it to fit, my bro decided to
jus jam it in there.....my question is if we messed up the
o2 sensor how would we know? also, the tip of the o2 sensor is bent.
but the car runs and there's no CEL
any input would help.

thanks

Hehe ... you bent the tip of the O2 sensor? Yay!!!

You'll find out soon enough if the sensor is damaged ... if your CEL comes on in the future and the code shows O2 sensor, that's when you know it's bad.

Otherwise, it's still good (or it's bad but the ECU is double/triple-checking that the O2 sensor is bad before switching on the CEL). Patience, my son.

My Haynes manual tells how to check a O2 sensor. Get the engine warmed up and check the sensor with a digital VM. If its within a range of resistance, its good.
