Road Rage this morning...

Geez I didn't think that I would flip out but I did...
I just left the house heading to work and come to the intersection where there's a new housing development on the right hand side across from me. Just as I make it across the intersection one of those small Cat forklifts backs up into my lane. Good thing I was still moving slowly. Anyhow I stop about 20 ft away to give the guy some room as he maneuvers the Cat around to pick up a load off the back of the truck. I'm waiting not 10 seconds when all of a sudden a stupid broad in a Ford Escape cuts in front of me and drives around the Cat without even blinking! I thought "that stupid b*tch couldn't wait her friggin turn!" I honk at her and that did nothing. The Cat operator looked surprised as the Escape drove around him. I honked the Cat operator, catch up at the light and the b*tch does a right turn on a red light with a sign that says you can't do rights on reds! Now thats 2 demerits against her. I've seen a car get t-boned in front of me at this intersection because it has a massive blind spot on the left. I take a quick look and stomp it. Just as I'm about to pass this b*tch she changes into my lane. WTF??
I cool my heels and watch as this b*tch tried to put distance between us as she knew I was coming up on her. Get onto the bridge overpass and she makes for an opening on the right lane. I go through the same opening too. She taps her brakes quickly but I have enough space to do a panic stop if it was required. Right lane is open and I stomp it. I fly past her and see in my driver side mirror that she stomps it too but I got a better engine...just before getting to the light at the end of the overpass I cut back in front of her. She stops just barely behind me. Dang I'm getting all riled up again typing this!
I glance in the rear view mirror watching her mouth flap. I peel off my seat belt and get out, leaving my door open. I walk up to her as she opens her window...she says "what the h*ll do you think you're doing???" I started to yell at her "WTF did you cut in front of me?" "whaddya mean cut in front..??" "Yeah you cut in front as I was waiting for that thing to get out of the way! Wait your F*kn turn!!"
Then the light turned green and I went back to my car. By this time the b*tch starts to yell back at me but I hopped in and drove off. Although my window had a crack open that b*tch was just screaming her head off. All I could hear was her whiny voice but I didn't hear a single word....I bet she was still thinking that she was the innocent victim after all of this.

Damn, just another reason to have forced induction! Safety!

Sorry, man. I've met you are you are one cool cat. I guess that that dumb driver just rubbed your last nerve huh? I can't believe you actually got out of the car to yell at that lady. Some will never understand that they are idiot drivers.

to bad she did not run into the CAT...pretty sure the driver of the CAT would have been fine... the escape on the other hand not so good.

BTW what you did I have done... not a good idea... I understand your mad..try and cool it.

I have the worst road rage. But chasing her only made the situation worse. I understand you were mad, but if you would have had an accident trying to keep up with her how mad would you be.

Again I AM NOT DOWNING you or saying I am better... I have chased/fought people over such things.

my 1 cent

Of course you could have let her go on her way, happy inthe knowledge that she would eventually wreck or something, and better that you not be fighting her for lane position when she does.

<SoapBox> (just thinking out loud here, not picking on the originl poster...)

In most states she could have pulled a legally owned concealed weapon on you. Think of it from her point of view - she makes a maneuver that she didn't see anything wrong with (in her own opinion) and you honk at ther, then start following her, making dangerous maneuvers to maybe force a confrontation, then having a guy get out of a car and approach a woman. Well, if my wife told the story like that then I'd wonder why she didn't cap his punk azz. I'm not condoning this driver's actions, just saying that her subjective opinion of the threat you presented to her could have made her do something unexpected.

I don't get wound up over drivers any more. I don't have that much energy to spare these days. If someone ****es me off then who gives a ****? It's not like I'm less of a man because I didn't react to it.

Also think about this... How many times have you, a normally patient and courteous driver, found yourself in a position of having to be discourteous because of circumstances? I once had to drive through heavy traffic to reach a 16 y/o daughter of a friend who had broken down in the middle of nowhere at midnight. I can tell you that I was speeding, swerving, stealing right-of way etc left right and center because a young girl stranded around here at night... ****, *I* wouldn't wanna be stranded round here at night and I'm over 6'. I betcha all those people I cut off thought I was a terrible driver, and a bad person... But I don't think I am - I think I just had to deal with circumstances that thy weren't aware of. Maybe if they knew they would have understood.

Then again maybe she was just a beeeee-ach. We'll never know.

(p.s Around here if you get out of your car to confront a driver over a non-accident driving altercation, it's an automatic road rage ticket )

</soapbox>

(pls don't hate me...)

Something similar happened to me about a month back.

They're doing some major contruction all over my neighbor, strengthening the bridges on the highway and things like that.

This one intersection where you get off the highway is pretty crowded: street is torn up and high concrete dividers all over the place.

I see a 300zx get off the highway and I'm about two car lengths behind him. When we get off, we see the light ahead had just turned green because there were no cars at the light but there were a couple across the intersection.

On the left is the highway with the high concrete dividers. Oncoming traffic cannot see up approaching. But that shouldn't matter because it's a traffic light and they should not be moving.

The 300zx crosses the intersection and a Benz coming flying through the intersection and makes the turn into the 300zx's lane! The Z swerves and slams on his brakes and then guns it past the Benz and turns and stops slanted in the road, blocking the Benz. A guy comes out and starts cursing like a **** at the driver of the Benz. I drive by real slow and look. It was a lady who was on her cellphone. The lady was looking at the cursing guy with this completely look.

As I drove away ... the guy was still giving the lady a tongue lashing.

You have to practice getting mad and then reacting to it with a calm state of mind. Then you'll be ready for real world situations. Don't allow yourself to get upset over people that you'll most likely never see again for the rest of your life, no matter how stupid or inconsiderate they are. Just avoid them. You'll be happier in the end.

Sorry to hear about your run-in.

again I UNDERSTAND... some people do not know what they do..and a swift boot in the butt will get their priorities back in order.

Just trying to help as you know now... 1 minute of anger may cost more than you know.

Enough of that crap... go find a nice open road and wear your tires out.. that's what I do

I've done things like that before. I was at a drive through and aparently the lady felt that I wasn't moving fast enough so she could fill her fat A$$ with french fries, so the honking and yelling starts, and honestly I was there maybe two minutes. So I got out and yelled at her, and I would tell you what I said but it's annoying doing these things---->F*ck. But she stop honking, but I agree she could have easily pulled a gun or something and she would have gotten off scott free. This would all be solved if we were allowed mounted machine guns on our cars...all in due time..muahahahah

YEs she sounds like a worthless bag. BUT She could call the cops on you when you left your car. THAT was your biggest potential mistake. Once you leave your car, you become the obvious aggressor and are approcahing a woman.

I did this once with a bald guy in a Mercedes 8 cylinder and his 18 opr so year old son. He cut me off three times ona highway and almost ran me off the road. I pulled in front of him and slowed and my exit came up so I exited. He followed so I pulled over to let the ashole through. Well he pulled over too. Now I am a big man (6'5" 260 lbs and 54-56" chest). You'd think he would see me get out after he di and just get back into his car. Well this moron doesn't. He starts to tell me off and his son gets out and approaches in a threatening manner. He put his hand in my face and I had it... Picked the **** by his neck up with my right while I kept my left in the sons face. I explained that I was going to work and do not expect to see them for the remainder of my trip b/c nest time there would be no next time for them. Never saw them again. Now what I did was lose my temper-shouldn't have done that and I could have had issues. In fact I have had several of these types of encounters in my younger years and probably should have taken prozac or something Just be careful, b/c you never know when you'll meet a guy like me or worse someone with a weapon.

Glad you are ok.

I had a road rage moment a few years back...

Driving down a windy suburban road I didn't know, and my wife was in the car. We were looking for a particular road. I was driving about 10mph under the limit looking for the correct street to turn into.

This 'lady' in a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a cell phone (that shiznit ain't even a stereotype anymore - it's all true!!) didn't like how slow I was driving so she rode my back bumper, probably less than 2' from my back bumper.

So I tapped my brakes to let her know I thought she was too close. So she got closer and leaned on the horn. After about 30 seconds of this I downshifted 2 gears and let off the clutch quickly so the car would slow down without brake lights - hopefully giving her the hint that she *was* too close. She freaked, dropped her cellphone and locked up her brakes when she realised she was about to hit me, and even though it was a two-lane road in a no-passing zone and she could only see about 100 yards ahead, she started to pass me.

So here's my bonehead move... I gassed it and kept up with her, not letting her pass. My front bumper was level with her rear wheel. We came to the brow of a hill in and a dumptruck appeared over the top. The girl didn't even think, just swerved into my lane to avoid hitting the truck, forcing me to brake and swerve to avoid a collision. That wound up with me in the ditch and her driving away happily.

Then I thought about it.
- If I had completely ignored her she would probably have waited for a safer passing zone.
- If I had not sped up whe would have completed her (illegal) pass long before meeting the oncoming traffic

The list goes on...

So I learned my lesson. I figured out how my own negative reactions to other agressive drivers only makes things worse. I looked at my wife and realised that I could have killed her, and myself.

So now I have a ze attitude to driving. If someone is agressive, let them go - Like I said above, I'd rather not be fighting them for lane position when the finally (and predictably) crash.

Water off a duck's back...

Re: Road Rage this morning...

was she on the cell phone? i hate it when those idiot drivers(men or women) are on the cell phone and can't keep control of their vehicles. i do drive, when necessary, on the cell phone. although, i can control my car, shift, and talk on the phone.
