OK VETTES NO PROB... FOR ME!
Um.... just to let u know,I dont need a charger man,I got my blue smurf in the trunk spitting out a 100 shot of nitrous into my throttlebody.Plus some other goodies,Dont worry bout me worry bout the poor stock vettes I teach a lesson!!!

, the Modded times are quite impressive but most of us know a GTP can be made very quick for cheap. From the magazine times (yes, I know what most of you think of those) and other posted times I have seen Stock Vs. Stock a well driven 5-speed Maxima should beat a stock GTP but it would be very close either way. A modded 5 speed 4th gen should be able to beat a stock GTP fairly easily but one they start modding we are 
.Of course most enthusiest owned GTPs are going to be Modded but if you are in your modded 5 speed and come accross some punk driving dads GTP you can teach him a lesson
.I considered the GTP before I got the Max, but in the end the better reliability and refinement won over a little more speed, and of course the available 5-speed. I have nothing against GTPs, they are great car for someone who wants a very fast sedan. Some of the guys here have a hard time believing any car can be better than a Maxima, the best car for someone really depends on their needs.

I always look at this way my fathers 97 GTP cost 17K my maxima cost 7K. If i put 10 Grand into my autoMagic GLE max then i would definelty be able to beat his piece o $^*# GTP. Thats the way i look at it. Aside form that his Pontiac is so cheap looking, the only good thing about is the H.U.D other than that im not impressed. The car is to big. Im not impressed just my 2 cents.

i also considered a GTP, but i need reliability right now. dont get my wrong GTP's are fast cars and nice sedans, but i still think a well driven 5speed max can take a stock GTP. but thats just my opinion. and i am hoping that with i/y/e i can give a GTP a good race, but who knows. but i think GTP's are WAY to over rated. its a v6 with a supercharger that runs a 15.0 if you put a supercharger on most decent v6 sedans it would eat a GTP alive

They are fast. Ive encountered 2 around here. Both with positive results 
Tho they were not walked. Both were hard wins. Oh..I do like the HUD....and the way boost gauge and others look....I just dont like the radio area of the console...of course the steering wheel controls are really nice.....and the stock "stance" of them looks good....
Any GTP guys here have a pic of theirs lowered?

BTW, this thread is about a 4th gen racing a GTP, not a 5th gen 2k2. So get off the high horse about the 2k2 beating the GTP. Yes it will, but who cares, you don't own one anyway! Stick to the topic at hand. If you want to discuss a 2k2 vs. a GTP then go and start a new thread!

Dev, I want some of what you've been smoking...or perhaps you have mph confused with km/h. One thing you've got right is that "you'll never go that fast" - especially in a GTP - even in km/h (255kmh=158mph).

i don't smoke anything and i also know quite a bit more about grand prix's than you do because my dad owns one, and i almost bought one as well.

You may hit 255mph in your dreams ok ,in a street car,and if you are planning on hitting that speed in a nissan or gm ,its going to be a skyline or a vette...so maybe it would mark 255mph ,but it is'nt accurate,you need to test it on the Gps,well I hope this post will stop all this garbage talk....just keep on maxing out guys peace!

a 2k2 auto max would waste a stock GTP. i have driven and rode in both, the gtp is more torquey but in a quarter mile theres no comp. and the funny thing is that the GTP has .3 liters larger of an engine and is supercharged and it still doesnt run with a new max. not an auto and especialy not a 6speed

Granted I've never seen any 2K2 Max run but from what I've heard the auto's are running 14.6-14.8 and the 6-speeds 14.2-14.5....that sound about right? Trust me a 14.7 is NOT going to waste a GTP, it's going to be a close race with each side getting some wins.
And I also have driven a 2K2 Max, both the 6-speed & auto. Both had nice smooth power, but the auto didn't feel any faster to me than my GTP did when it was stock. And also I have run a 2K2 auto with my car and I put about 2 cars on him to 60, if it would've went to 1/4 mile speeds (98 or so) I'm sure that margin would've opened up a bit more.

Do let me add 1 thing. i love the GTP... Its nothing personal its just on the .org its turning into a huge "if i race this X can i win"...
I've never run into a nicely modded GTP...

I went out last night and saw a new generation GTP all black, really sweet...we pull up to a light and i rev, he revs u know the usual..anyway at green we both had wheelspin but i got the better launch..but he's pulling like a *****, and around 60-70 he has about 2-3 cars on me..those things r fast

to GTPguy97 - im sorry i didnt mean it as the auto max would waste a gtp. but from what i know it would beat it. and i am probably one of the least biase maxima owners on the org. GTP's are nice cars, i like them, i almost bought one instead of the max, but i am young and need a reliable car. GTPs are real fun to drive, they have tons of torque and pull hard in low gears. as to your "ur one of those guys that think gtp's run low 15's at best" i dont think that. my boss at work, ran a 14.8 all stock, then again i have seen some run low to mid 15's. i GTP can take a stock auto max and some 5speeds as well, but now that the 2k2 and 2k3 are out, i think the GTP has found a competitor with the upperhand.

Hey, no problem. And I'm sure you're right, a 2K2 auto Max is capable of beating a GTP. But I will also believe, based on the numbers the 2 have put up, that a GTP is also capable of beating the Max. That's why I call it a toss-up.
The numbers I've heard for the auto 2K2's are accurate, right? 14.60-14.80? I know the 6-speeds are 14.5 and below, I'm really looking forward to my first encounter with one of those....it should be a helluva race.

GTP is outdated (sorta)
there are many ways of saying maxima is better. or GTP is better. but the 3.8 GM engine is an old iron block engine that pretends friction and weight dont exist. just sayin. it takes lots of pony's to move those heavy blocks. i dont want people tellin me crap. i just pointed it out. there are many differennt reasons a GTP could win.
