Split-Year for 1995 Maxima? + Engine Light

Is it true that there was a split-year for 1995 Maximas? I have a "Check Engine" light/oxigen sensor problem. And the mechanic at Midas told me that there are two different computer modules, one for the 1st half & the other for the 2nd half of the split-year. There are also oxigen sensors for the 1st half & 2nd half. They cannot be mixed. If do mixed them, the Check Engine light will keep coming back on. Is this a fact? Thank you.

That's funny Gotrice4,
my 95 max was made in 2/95 that's like a year newer then your's,anyway's I believe what your mechanic said was true in the sense that early 95's like Gotrice's had OBD1 and late model 95's like mine were updated to OBD2,The difference between the OBD's is some form of strictor emission control implemented in the OBD2 unit. That's all I know.
