Kill Story: RSX

Well I was crusing last week with a firend in the ride. I pull up to an RSX at a red light and when it turns green we both gun it. He must of gotten about a half car lenght ahead of me at 50 (we wouldn't go past that as there is a cop past every corner on that street), but anyway he beat me and I got some respect for the car. So today I am driving back from work and stop at a red light and a RSX pulls up next to me (it's some chick and she looks pretty good so I know I can't lose). This time I turn off O/D and switch into 2nd. The light turns green and she steps on it but I only put down about 3/4 throdle for the first second to avoid wheel spin. Her tires spin out of control but she lunches off and gets even with me. As I increase speed Im thinking damn she will propably pass me so Im just waiting for that moment, however, by 60 I don't see here when I look left and think what the hell, so I look in the rear view mirror and see her there with that "Damn I can't beleive I got beat by a family car" look on here face. Well I slow down as I never like to go over 20 on speed limits and she flies by me at like 90 trying to save her pride, but we all know who won. Just thought you guys might be interested. BTW: all I got is a K&N filter.

RSX type-S shouldnt be a problem when launching from a standstill position. My friend has a 97' maxima GXE auto, w/ NO mods what so ever and raped my other friend's RSX from 0-40 mph... but we had to shutdown cuz of traffic. Maxima has the torque to pull fast in the beginning but the RSX would have beat him @ higher speed, especially when their VTEC kicks in

oh really? so you're sayin a 4-door sedan doesnt have a chance against a 2 door top notch sports car? hmmm... that's interesting..i should write that down.

Damn, i just came back from the night street races down by Leitrim (Ontario) and a fairly new RSX Type S got it's *** handed to it by a Lude... The 99 lude had I/E... Isn't the RSX Type S supposed to be a 6.3sec 0-60 car?

My experience with test driving a Type S..
The thing about the RSX Type S is that you have to basically drive it like a maniac to get the most out of it's acceleration.
It redlines at 7800 rpm, and hits peak power at 7400 - when you're driving it physcially lurches forward at 6000 rpm.
At anything over 5500 rpm it feels like the engine is going to fall out as it's screaming at you, but it pulls so hard from 6000 on you hit redline in no time.
The biggest weakness IMO is how close they've put the gear ratios together, so although it's a fast car, you end up having more changes so that slows you down a bit.

Looks to me lke mzmtg said NSX Type-S not RSX Type-S, you know the one that's $90,000+. Thats a big no chance for the maxima there.

I have seen a type-s running at a 1/8 mile track and it consistantly ran 10.1 to 10.0. I was running 10.0 to 9.9 (5spd) that night so I think they are pretty even, but I think my car would have had him easy for the first 60 ft, but once the vtec kicked in he would have started pulling.

I dont think I raced the type S cause I propably would have lost, I am auto. Once I get a couple mods (or just nos ) I will be happy to race those things. Also mzmtg I hope that was a spelling error.

all honda's are like that.. and what's wrong with driving like a maniac

drive a typeR and u will learn to love shifting at 8500 RPM :P it's music to my ears.. especially with mugen headers + twin loop exhaust..

sorry to break it to you man, but the VTEC is constantly working, it doesnt "kick in" after certain speed, or engine speed, it it working as soon as the car is running.....

Music to my ears is peeling out in a car that has some torque and watching cars with low end torque rape the hell off the line of those top RPM screamers... (Sorry, still fuming of how ****ty the S2000 is, there's no power for the first 6000RPM's!!!!!!)

Isn't the reason the gear ratios are so close together cuz they're 6 speeds. another factor when racing these guys are cuz they're 6 speeds that not many knows how to drive them well.
