Exhaust resonators and performance

Do the resonators in the exhaust system hinder or cause airflow restriction in the exhaust? Will a car autmatically droan a lot if you remove this resonator?

If it's of adequate piping size and uses perforated/straight thru design... then it shouldn't impede flow.

I just had a custom 2.5 in. cat back system made for my 97 auto. I went with no resonator and the car was quite loud and I lost about 50% of my low end. I went back a couple of weeks later and had an 18 in. strait though resonator installed. The car now sounds great, and I have regained my low end back. I would deffinitly get a resonator on your car. Im assuming that I also adds a bit of back presssure also.
John.
