95' Max and the 300 ZX

Well, it finally went down tonight. My friend and I went at it in a 1/4 mile race from signal lignt to signal light. Mine: 95' Max Auto GXE, His: 300ZX N/A T-Top, Auto.
I have to say, I got lucky of the start. I pulled half a car length on him and had the throttle down. (by the way the overdrive was engaged) We kept at it until we saw the next signal turn red. I looked back to see where he was at, still half a car length behind and then I had a quick glance at my speed (88 MPH). Then looked up to see the light turn red and we slowed down and went our separate ways. Of course I'll let him hear it tomorrow, but I'm just glad I had a good start and beat him (especially since he's sooooooooooo competative in everything we do).
On my way back home I kept sizing up cars, thinking "Uh... NEXT!!"

Good kill. If I had a sports car and got beat by a grocery getter I'd be getting rid of that sports car.

yeah man... nice win, but don't feel too lucky. i've seen 5spds at the track and i was so suprised how slow they were. i've only seen them at an 1/8 mile, but they were running 10.3-10.6 with intake and exhaust. i've got a 97 se 5spd, and i've run 9.8 consistenly now with just an intake. i guess they are just too overweight...

However, I think the NA Automatic Z's have more potential than the NA Automatic Max's. I have a friend with a 91 NA Auto Z, and he run's a 14.9 with only a Pop-Intake, UDP (set?) and HKS ALC (tranny controller).

Plus there is no way any maxima will look as good as a 300zx.
