when i have the a/c on, and i get the rpm's to 3000 area, my car kind of hums. when the a/c is off, the car doesn't do this. is there a problem here with my a/c, or something else even? it is almost like a deep toned whine. thanks

 

Possibly but it is coming from the drive belt area probably. If not then maybe one of your parts in that area, example alternator, a/c compressor, or one of the pulleys. Try to spray like some carb cleaner or something on both sides of the belt and if the sound goes away it's something with your belt.

chris, thanks for the response, but the one thing that i failed to mention is that it only does it in first and second for all that i can hear. thanks
