I'm so **ssed right now. I spent the whole day putting on my Stillen y-pipe and complete catback exhaust and I feel like it got me no where. I've read millions of threads on how SE's don't have speed limiters on them but still can't figure out why my car doesn't want to go past 125mph. My friend has a 92SE(DOHC) and has no problem hitting 145-150mph(without a y-pipe). Next mod is going to be the UDP.....maybe some day I'll hit 140mph......anyone with any answers or comments please feel free to post

how fast do you think your maxima should go?

 

if its that big a deal to you, then take the limiter off, although i think your going to get urself killed constantly trying to top your car out

 

SE's are do not have limiters.. supposidly..

 

96SE doesn't have a limiter. My 96SE 5spd has been topped at 130... w/ catback exhaust and k&N cone filter

 

i got 135 on a flat open highway with no cops out at all. daytime driving. no traffic. mine is a 97 se

I had a GXE with only a cone intake and a messed up hood that added tons of wind resistance and I still managed to get to 130 pretty easily.

 

what happens when ure car hits 125... does ure engine shut off (fuel gets cut off)? That's the only way u can associate the speed limiter to ure problem. If your car just doesn't pull anymore after 125... ure engine can't handle it?

Also the mods u put on recently... such as the Y-pipe and all... i'm not sure myself but can that increase top-speed? I understand it helps pull faster... but i don't know if it affects how fast you can go because it just depends on how much ure engine would be able to take. good luck

 

Well, your car has no limiter. My best guess is that outside conditions just weren't best suited for your car to continue pulling. You can get there, but it is a long, slow pull up to 140....

change your fuel filter?

 

yeah, you should be able to break 125mph very easily, it not that big of a challenge. but as someone just said, try changing your fuel filter and maybe your plugs. i did this a few weeks ago and i noticed a difference in my highend. or maybe your air filter is dirty.... maybe you just need some maintanance work done... and are you an auto or stick?

 

you have a 96...when was the last time you changed your fuel filter? i remember i thought i had a limiter the first time i tried hitting top speed.....after that, i changed it, and it seems like i could only hit 128, but it was uphill

 

right he is, after a new fuel filter, about a week later i hit roughly 135

 

My stock 99se taps out at around 137 mph, at least the last time i tested it on the highway (few day ago)

 

I just don't understand why my engine wouldn't be able to pull anymore when a 92SE with almost 3 times as many miles on the engine is blowing me away? Take off power was definitely noticed with the y-pipe. Next thing to do is change the fuel filter and UDP. I don't know what I'd without you guys. Thanks for the help guys!!
