Power Window - '96 Maxima

I have 1996 Maxima GXE. Something happened to my power window on the rear left. It doesn't hold on the top any more. It just falls down. If I press the switch to go up or down, I can hear the motor working as usual, but nothing happens. I opened up the door trying to see what's wrong with the power window assembly, but I couldn't identify the problem. Friend of mine is telling me I probably need the whole power window assembly replaced on that rear left door, which could run for at least 200 dollars. I hear people talking about regulators? Could that be the problem?

Anybody heard of that problem? Thanks!

yea, that happened to me too on my 95 GXE. I had to pull out the panel and the metal cable got tangled on the reel... and because of that, all this other ish happened like broken plastic and stuff. It was a big headache to get it fixed
