Came third in horsepower competition

PFI (The guys that did my turbo) had their grand opening today! There were competitions for the highest import and domestic cars. I was pushing 11.93 psi and only made 319 HP. It was over 100F today and they didn't run the fan to cool my intercooler. Still the engine held together but I was disappointed. The clutch actually slipped. I tried to keep the clutch as cool as possible and it held for the most part. At 9 psi I made 352 HP and 349 ft-lbs a couple of months ago, so it's seems weird to me. But then again my car is very untuned.

Well I came third to two Supras. One at 670 HP and the other at 450HP. Forth was a BMW M3 at 286 (I think).

I am not sure why the power went down. I have 17" rims now instead of 16" but I am running higher boost. The turbo should still be in its efficiency range. I think I need to tune my car with an AFC, which is on its way. I think I'll check the compression again this week to make sure everything is OK. I am suspecting fuel delivery issues. Seeing 670 HP makes me want to build an engine and run over 20 psi! Has anyone done that yet?

Hm....maybe air leaks can cause lower power (yet you measured the psi so...)Maybe fuel injectors, pump, ect....
Good job with the 3rd place though...i sure am jealous, hehe

I don't know that you would be able to feed the VQ enough fuel to run 20pounds. My friend's '93 lude hit 25psi with 634hp.

Yeah that seems like a huge difference from what you just got at over 11psi...what's going on? Shouldn't you have more like 400 hp?

I think I found what the problem was. One of the temp sensors had come out so the MAF reading was incorrect. Anyway hopefully with the Super AFC, I should be able to tune better. We'll see! As far as lag is concerned, it is not so bad now I have a lightened flywheel. Engine spins up faster now.
