muffler question....drilling?

I'm going to get a new muffler in about a month after summer classes are over. But I was wondering, with my stock muffler, is there a way to make it louder...such as drilling holes in it or something? And what consequences would it have?

Thanks - Chad

No offence intended at all, but this has got to be one of the riciest things I have ever heard. You want to make your car louder, and you know that it won't improve performance, and you even think there may be consequences, but your desire to be loud is so great, you still want it.
