dead speedometer....

dead speedometer....
I was reading a thread a couple days ago and some people were giving a hard time to someone who still had his stock air ram thing for the stock air box in his car even though he had an aftermarket intake... So i got thinking that mine was worthless and ripped it out. Minus the weird box under the battery that the tube used to feed air to as well (Not sure what that is....) anyway... I left the sensor dangle, it seems to be be fine but I will connect it up to my pop charger eventually... anyway..... That night when I went out for a drive I noticed my speedometer is not working at all... Nothing. The rest of the car seems fine I believe. Are these two things related and has anyone else had their speedometer just quit before?
Also, how much oil loss is normal? I am way overdue for yet again another oil change but should my oil be so low my oil pressure light flickers occassionally? I already had my oil pressure sending unit replaced due to a slight leak. My car is at work, in the same spot 80% of my life and I notice NO leaking oil at all ever. So why is my dipstick reading that my oil is below the fill line? Is that normal?
Thanks!
Alec

Speed sensor could be out or your meter is bad OR your wires are disconnected somewhere. If you have an auto and it shifts fine, then the problem is most likely your meter.
Oil loss for me is 0. No oil loss, never had to top oil up after 3500 miles. Oil loss is not normal but it happens. If it is an external leak (oil sending unit or drain plug), you can fix those easy as you probably did.
Look under your car around the filter, drain plug, etc ... if you can find a leak, then you know where part of your problem is. If you're burning oil, then just leave with it if it's a small amount OR spend lots of money and fix it. I'd just leave it and keep checking the oil. If your oil loss gets worse, then fix it.

I did a search and heard about the speed sensor. Is this something that will need to be replaced? How much is one of these? I have a 5sp
I think I am going to park my car in a "bad" neighborhood and leave it for a few days... I feel sorry for whoever takes it
