1997 GXE with 2000 SE 17" rims pics...
here is a first pic of 4th gen. maxima with 5th se rims. I paid $750 for these. Brand new rims, tires-4400 miles. I think it looks great considering the car isn't dropped. and it will not be dropped because i dont want to sacrifice ride quality.

But i rather buy some decent used rims with 750.
Just my thought.

I know exactly how you feel
I bought a set of 96 SE wheels with new tires, stock springs, and a shift **** for $200. I threw the wheels and **** on my 89 Mazda 626. Looks great.
Just last week I bought a set of 16" 2000 SE wheels with only 1K on the tires for $250. Apparently the owner wanted to go with a set of chrome wheels. (Yuck) Then again without diverse taste and opinion, I wouldn't have gotten the wheels. This worked out great because my stock tires are just about up at 48K miles.
I feels nice to get a good deal.

Hmm.. I said used rim. read my post again. where you can find them, go to part for sale section. You can most likely find used rim with tire for around 750 or little more.
And I do like how your car look with that rim, but I'm just saying that for me I rather get other than oem rim when I have 750 to spend on rim. You got my point. It's just my personal taste,
