Actually, DOHCCIVIC owes me money for the idea... He started out selling these in a kit with a cheap filter. I was the first to contact him to inquire if he would sell it seperately.

I told several other people on the .org about it, and his contact info. It looks as though he is now capitalizing on the idea after having several people wanting the upper piping only...

See the following threads for more info about it.

Very worth it! Impovement in sound, and helped counteract low-end lag from the Pop Charger. Don't have any technical information except to say that my butt felt a difference... Worth it just to get rid of that goofy lookin' resonator...

Pop Charger w/Upper Piping is what I have. Look in the FAQ's and do a search on the different types though. That's the best source of information you have. Besides, not too many people on here like to "give away" too much info without having someone search for it a bit.

On a side note, I really like the setup I have. It's called a Hybrid Intake.

You can make your own upper piping for about $15. I got the directions while doing a search. A very nice org. member did a nice write-up on it. http://www.drwebdesign.com/mymaxima/upperintake.html

Excellent write-up, but if you're paranoid... It's not for you. I couldn't sleep at night wondering if I'd loose a barb fitting in my Throttle Body.

Yes I agree. I actually used a little bit different fittings then what was recomended for that reason. It's hard to explain but they have large "ridges" on them which make it impossible to come loose, along with some silicone. I will eventually buy an upper inake like this thread is talking about. With my home made one I still have the accordian section and it does not look as good as a metal one. It's probably not quite as good but it is better than before.

Yes, be careful when making it. It may not be for the paranoid, you will not get a good nights sleep.

It sounds like you found a pretty good solution to fool proof it from coming apart. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This isn't a post about CAI's. You may want to search for a post about cold air intakes or CAI's and ask one of them. Otherwise, you'll unlikely get any information. But as a side note, I have a friend here in Utah that has one, and he has had no such problems.
