prelude vs maxima

my uncle has a 2000 prelude thats 100% stock. he said he kept up with his friends 2k2 6speed and i know the kid with the max is a good driver so obviously my uncle is full of bs, unless he thinks loosing by 3 cars is keeping up anyway i want to run against him and he is a 5speed stock. i am a 96' auto with CAI, who is going is going to win. btw he is a really good driver

For the love of everything holy in this world, STOP ASKING ABOUT WHAT YOU CAR CAN BEAT!

You want to know?!?! Go race them, find out and spare the rest of us the mindless drivel of your inquiries.

Re: lude wins all the way

I was thinking the same thing, sorry DTR, but this must be the 10th thread you've started about if you could beat this car or that car. I think if the person driving this Prelude can drive half way decent, then you're toast. Even with your CAI, you're car is a mid 15 sec. car I would say. Like someone else mentioned, a prelude is a little quicker, less weight, and importantly 5 speed.

well the reason i ask, is because i am only 16 and this max is my first car and i know that anything can happen in a street race. and for some reason everyone around here wants to race for money, so i like to hear from some experienced maxima drivers on how i might do. I work part time for 7$ an hour for god sakes, its not like i have money to just throw around for a race. so before i bet money i would like to know if i even stand a chance, like i said anything can happen in a street race and i havnt done much of it yet so im just trying to save/make money. so no need to be a d*ck about it man.

well i have the Place racing CAI and i love it. it gives a really nice sound that comes out of your engine bay, and although it doesnt give you like 20hp or anything you can tell a difference and in my book well worth 230$ i would suggest the place racing, but u may like others more, so look around or try custommaxima.com they have the weapon R and place racing CAI, also if you want something cheaper you could go with JWT pop charger.

Don't want to sound like a d**k, but "16", "first car" and "street race" doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. I'm not saying you're a bad driver, 'cause I don't know you at all. But I can say that if something should go wrong, nothing is a substitute for experience. And at 16, you can't say you have a lot. I'd suggest finding a track and sharpening your skills there. Plus you'll meet a lot of people who really know cars, and can give suggestions for making yours faster/better. Just the perspective from someone who's seen too many dead people in cars. Stay safe.

well its summer time and i've only had it in for like a couple of weeks so i cant say anything about the snow, but as far as rain goes i have had no problem. installation will take your anywhere from 1-2 hours. more around 2 though. but you can get insructions on how to do it from maximadriver.com just go to the how to section, but u may want a friend to come over and help out because it involves drilling and such and once my buddy got there it got done much quicker. good luck!

I think the fact that you have an auto will hurt you in this case. But I don't think you can look at the expected track time of one car and say that if you have a slower time you will lose to him.

I have a perfect example from a few nights ago. A new WRX revved at me at a stoplight to race. Those cars should roast my 1995 Max SE 5-spd, but we were neck and neck all the way from 0-80mph and then I shut it down since I was in a 40mph zone. So there is no clear cut answer to these "if I race him will I win" questions. Just go race him... its always fun!
